Hi all!
Long time no post. Just working on new mechanisms and if you have any translatiobn reactions involving gliders or any othe common spaceship (such as *WSSs) please post, would help me a lot.

Here's a couple to start me off.

Code: Select all

x = 29, y = 16, rule = B3/S23
bo$b2o$obo2b2o$5b2o3$21bobo$21b2o$22bo2$27bo$26bobo$26bobo$20bo6bo$19b
obo$20b2o!

I suppose it goes without saying that for multiple glider 'translation", Mark D. Niemiec's synthesis collection is unsurpassed.
For a more spartan approach, I would recommend a study of existing Construction Arm examples. These will yield myriad examples of single glider reactions with single and multiple objects.
Or, like myself, take a target object and place multiple copies at 30 cell spacing. Diagonally below, place single gliders at 31 cell spacing. Observe the results. Save in an appropriately named file for future reference.
I have a directory with files for all the common still lifes (in multiple orientations where applicable).
These come in very handy for many things; eg. how many gliders does it take to move a block 15 cells east and 4 cells down? How much space do I have around the block to work with to avoid inadvertant reactions?
Give it a try.

OK, great, thanks, I'll get going with that.
