Idea: Minimal Oscillator Collection

Post by Extrementhusiast » August 11th, 2012, 3:23 pm

I have an idea of starting a minimal oscillator collection. An oscillator will be defined as "minimal" if it has the smallest possible stator for a given rotor. This would be quite helpful for searching through larger sizes of oscillators for useful oscillators, as I think that most of the larger oscillators are simply the smaller rotors with different stators.

I'd suggest extending this for different bushing types per stator… here's a collection (which may not be entirely minimal) for the blinker/bipole rotor for example:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 21, rule = B3/S23

I think I've seen similar collections for other rotors at some point.

(Also if you're talking about the natural oscillators list on the wiki, I made a version for just that a while ago:

I thought of that, but didn't put it in my original post.
