why does the wiki have Category:Conduits with output offset (x,y) categories when almost all of them have only one page in them?

Yes. It's been that way since the beginning -- February 2015.

What categories should be created in LifeWiki ?
I think many categories that were needed already exist, at least in the main namespace. When a new category is needed for some reason, that should be more or less obvious; but creating "categories for the sake of categories" would not be a good idea.

What is the pattern on the wiki logo?
No one has answered this yet, so I thought I'd bring it back up. Does anyone know?

Also, many boards periodically remove users who have not posted for a long time.
How many days until deletion (the reason is quoted)?

On the conwaylife.com server, specifically? There's no set time. I think Nathaniel has only done this kind of inactive-user cleanup once. It might happen again every year or two.
The reason for the cleanup last time was that a lot of banned spam accounts were accumulating in the member list. Many of those banned accounts had objectionable signatures or spam websites that were still visible when people viewed the member lists -- and those sigs and websites aren't accessible for moderators to clean up.
The easiest way to do the cleanup was for an admin (Nathaniel) to query and remove all of the inactive accounts with no remaining posts, in one operation.

I'm not sure either. Is it comp.theory.cell-automata? That's mostly spam.
No, it's a private forum; members can join by invitation only. We are not allowed to divulge the location of the forum, or publicise the archives, as it would then be subject to the level of spam of comp.theory.cell-automata. The idea of making it private is to prevent questions such as 'What's a LWSS?', or pulsar re-inventions (there have been plenty of those!), and so forth.
It is unreachable from search engines, so searching it in Google would be a waste of time. Furthermore, 'Life List' is a pseudonym, designed to protect the actual identity for the reasons listed above.
Does Life List still exists?

Nope, it went defunct in late 2020, when Yahoo took the archives offline and then rather suddenly pulled the plug on it completely. But it hadn't been particularly active at all for about a decade. Almost all of the actual activity transferred over very quickly to the conwaylife.com forums, so what was left was pretty much just an occasional news bulletin.
The Life List's successor is the
NewLifeCA project. There's a bit more about it on that thread.

Hello,
Well when you are in "REPLY" mode like I am while writing this message ...
There's no button to abort.
I think it should be a good feature to add it, isn't it ?
Cheers.

Does
Special:Search&profile=all&search=Mikipedia&fulltext=1 qualify as "an entire unrelated wiki inside user pages" and/or "flooding the recent-changes list"?
dvgrn wrote: ↑November 12th, 2023, 12:05 am
3) There's an exception to the "user pages shouldn't be judged by LifeWiki notability guidelines". Experimental usage should definitely be
minor and occasional. The exact level that's considered excessive is going to have to be up to individual moderators and/or the community in general, but obviously it's no good if someone starts trying to hide an entire unrelated wiki inside their user pages, or starts making hundreds of edits per day and flooding the recent-changes list.
But if it's just a few occasional edits, it definitely seems better to just make a policy of ignoring them, rather than starting any arguments about them or trying to get them deleted.

I gave my personal "clearly way too much" level as "hundreds of edits per day". Probably even a dozen edits per day would be too much for me, if that was an ongoing edit rate. The edits you linked to are well within my personal "ignore it and it will probably stop eventually" level.
Other moderators may have different tolerance levels, and of course they're welcome to Do Something about the various Mikipedia pages, if they want to.

Sure, could be very handy! It depends on how many of those entries actually get nominated, I suppose, but having links and details all organized in a table can save a whole lot of time.
If someone goes ahead and nominates everything in the table, and then the table gets used to add new nominations if and when they come in, it seems like that will be a really good starting point.
