Any plans to update the Golly Scripts Database (https://www.conwaylife.com/scripts/)? There are several Perl scripts that are not supported in modern Golly.

And also, why am I forbidden to access https://www.conwaylife.com/patterns/?

I haven't looked at the Scripts database for a while. I probably should, but there are an awful lot of other things to do. It would be great if someone would take up the project of collecting a list of links to as many commonly-used Python and Lua scripts as possible, with descriptions of their authors and what they're used for. We're going to need something like that for moving all those auxiliary Python scripts from Python 2 to Python 3.

I could undertake to use such a list to update the Scripts database, whereas I'm unlikely to attempt that particular project on my own. The Very Large Patterns collection is probably a higher priority for me, at least until it's about ten times its current size; there are getting to be a lot of large patterns to be collected and organized.

The conwaylife.com/patterns folder permissions error is just a standard message for anything in the server file structure where permission hasn't been specifically granted for access from the Internet. That happens all the time in cases like this (and I see the exact same error message myself, though I have permission to update the patterns directory using a different mechanism.)

getallrules.py is OT only.

You can find a version that works for INT here: https://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic ... 734#p56734
The 5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by AforAmpere. The latest collection is hosted on GitHub and contains well over 1,000,000 spaceships.

Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of LWTDS.

This morning I received a notification on dvgrn quoting me:

But that post was written in April, and I see no apparant edit ever since. So why would I get a notification?

Definitely my fault. I was looking back at that thread today, since I checked in Goldtiger997's spaceship synth pattern as a LifeViewer animation over lunchtime, for the next version of Golly.

I believe I noticed in passing that I had spelled "definitely" without the second "i" in that post. That sort of thing is just not acceptable -- but I didn't realize that a quote in the post would mean that the quotee would receive a fresh notification. Good to know. There's another weird PHPBB rule that I tripped over a while back, about how moderators' edits only show the "Last edited..." message if a reason-for-editing is entered. If the reason is left blank, the edit is only acknowledged in moderator logs, not at the bottom of the post.
