It’s a clever attempt to advertise something without looking like they’re advertising something

EDIT:
This is not the first time I’ve worked on a reply to something and then see it disappear before I post my reply.
I'm trying to train people not to post replies to spam. The fastest and easiest thing for a moderator to do is delete spam as soon as it shows up. But if someone has posted a response to said spam in the mean time, then now there's a link that looks like an interesting topic, that other people are likely to click on. Then maybe those people will post something saying "the link doesn't work", and the moderator might have to spend a long time explaining things, instead of just a few seconds deleting and banning.

I fixed the above link so it goes somewhere after all, but you don't want to go there either.

So... my recommendation is, don't bother responding to spam. Report it using the little exclamation mark icon if you want (though that usually isn't necessary either) -- but don't bother making a post anywhere with a link to the offending post. And there's no point in responding to responses to spam either. The entire chain will probably get deleted too, again because that's way quicker than what I just did instead.

TL;DR: Sometimes the best action is no action. Just keep breathing in and out for a while, and spam will become Not a Problem.

You'll need to create a LifeWiki account first, preferably the same as your forum account (or post the name here). Oddly enough, the two account systems are completely separate.

Need my account validated. I have a very impressive (by my standards) 16x16 Methuselah I would like to post.

I also have some janky ships I would like to post, they are made from other ships (slightly modified) but serve their own unique purpose that could possibly be of use to some people. If those don't belong on the wiki, let me know so I won't post them.

Ermm - you should post them here first.

Do they break the records set by 47575M (47575 generations)?

Done, but do heed testitemqlstudop's warning: if a methuselah doesn't break the current record in terms of lifespan (47,575 generations) or has the longest lifespan for its size, it unfortunately probably isn't notable enough to be included on the wiki. As for the ships, if you could paste the RLE here on the forums (preferably placed inside

Code: Select all

tags, which adds the option to show them in the HTML5 viewer) we can make a judgment about how notable they are.

I get the sense that seternal thinks you need to be trusted to post elsewhere in the forum as well, so you should probably explain that. Or I guess I just did.

I have been idle for around 6 months. Do you think I've changed enough to re-add me again?

This doesn't seem accurate at all. The straw poll tally on Discord is currently about evenly split between "don't trust" and "trust but {various precautions}" -- with a small majority on the "trust" side. That's much better than the near-unanimous straw poll in favor of removing EV's trusted flag half a year ago.
