Inaccessible wiki pages

Post by muzik » February 7th, 2022, 10:34 am

In addition to the black magic going on in BrokenRedirects, there also seem to be some other pages that, for some reason, are (accidentally) under high-security (likely due to invalid characters), such that clicking on them might end up logging you out of the forums and prompting for a captcha.

One such offender is https://conwaylife.com/wiki/User:Apple_ ... 27s_census which also happily bloats WantedPages since redlinks can't be removed from it; there's also several user pages in the "Pending merge" category which are also subject to this.

Could these tortured soul pages be put to rest properly, somehow?

It was noted before. I would like to see if newer versions of MediaWiki could eliminate it, though. so I changed my mind to not scolding you for making a new thread

I tried to create a page at User:hotdogPi/Cat_(disambiguation) which triggered it, too, so parentheses might also cause it. I created it at User:hotdogPi/Cat. (It's not meant to be in draftspace; it's more of a joke page.)

I got a captcha loading screen, but it didn't actually cause me to enter a captcha or log me out.

Fixed now. There was a security setting on the server that was set to prevent bots from trying various nefarious things. That setting has been removed (it's not really needed anyway).
