Database error on "Category:Oscillators with period 165"

Post by Ian07 » July 6th, 2022, 4:56 pm

Category:Oscillators with period 165 currently has the following error:

Code: Select all

A database query error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software.
[YsX2qu_FUgMdctUzyQvK7wAABRE] 2022-07-06 20:55:07: Fatal exception of type "Wikimedia\Rdbms\DBTransactionStateError"
I was able to create the page just fine, but actually displaying the result produces the error. From testing, it appears that calling Template:OscillatorPeriod with any value of p corresponding to a category that does not yet exist (e.g. {{OscillatorPeriod|p=19}}) causes the error. I was thinking it might have to do with the recent changes by GUYTU6J to Template:OscNumbers, but that was almost a month ago, and cvojan was apparently able to make Category:Oscillators with period 127 without a hitch.

95, 103, and 221 don't cause errors.

19 doesn't cause an error on my end, while 165 does, so I think a redlink has to exist for it to return that error.

83, 146, and 199 cause an error similar to the text below, while 23, 46, 80, and 127 work fine. This error seems to be related to the newly discovered oscillators.

Code: Select all

A database query error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software.

I just attempted a clumsy workaround in order to make the category pages mentioned above display correctly. Are there any pages which still display the same error?

Today's edits allow one to create a new period category without worrying about the ugly database error, I believe. See Category:Oscillators_with_period_41 for the effect. (And apologies to whoever thinks a new p41 oscillator has been found in GoL.)

Can you elaborate how to purge the pages in the warning message?

Click edit, then save without making any changes.
