Credit for patterns discovered by distributed search

Post by very » January 1st, 2023, 10:48 am

Hi, I implemented the connection for Charity Engine and OpenScienceGrid to Catagolue.
I am writing this in hopes of accurate credit for discoveries made by these systems (and for soup search in general).
For discoveries made by distributed systems, such as PrimeGrid or GIMPS, the norm for credits is ordered
  1. Discovering entity
  2. Developer(s) of applications/servers for the distributed search (in our case, Calcyman)
  3. Everyone who has participated in this search.
Credit for all discoveries made by the Charity Engine and OpenScienceGrid systems will be "Charity Engine, Adam P. Goucher, very, Catagolue et. al." and "OpenScienceGrid, Adam P. Goucher, very, Catagolue et. al.", respectively. If I facilitate in the future discoveries by distributed systems - for instance, a distributed spaceship search - credit will also be similarly ordered.

PrimeGrid swaps the order of 2 and 3 so we would instead have discoveries ordered as "Charity Engine/OpenScienceGrid, Catagolue et. al., apgsearch by Adam P. Goucher, connection by very", if that is better, I'm fine with both options.
