alright. could i make a "thread for corderization requests?" everywhere in OCA i see people like FWK and Naszvadi corderizing puffers in different rules. i want a place where people could ask for corderization without getting off topic.

Thanks for doing this! I've checked in the pattern-with-new-comments to Golly's repository, so it will show up in the next release (whenever that happens).

Seems vaguely reasonable to me. Maybe it's kind of a specialized topic, maybe it wouldn't get much use, but it wouldn't be the first topic for which that was true.

Can we construct a breeder, that supports the following formula:
p_t = 1/2 t^2 + 1/2 t + p_0
or
p_t = t^2+p_0?
(in these cases, t is the generation, and p_t means the population of the populations of generation t. especially, p_0 is the initial population.)
Still wandering ...

edit 4:... RLE has been updated.
Great work!

A few more comments:
  • "extensible\ngreyship\nHH 24 Mar 2006": greyships are extensible by definition. Call this "c/4 greyship" instead.
  • "c/2 wickstretcher\nJS 4 May 2005": Hartmut Holzwart should also be credited.
  • "switch engine Heisenburp reaction\nDIB 21 Jun 2005": The Heisenburp reaction refers to the reaction where the two gliders pass through a switch engine, causing it to leave two trails of blocks. The front glider-releasing part should probably be called "backward Corderrake" (also found by David Bell on 21 Jun 2005).
  • "c/2 wickstretcher\nJS/HH 1 Jul 2005": try to put this label above the wickstretcher. If possible, make "L/M/HWSS JHC 1970" a two-line label to give more room for the wickstretcher label.
  • "HWSS Corderrake\nDIB 2005": found by David Bell on 12 Jun 2005
  • "modular c/4 wick spaceship\nNB 21 Mar 2006": those are waves, not wicks, so it should be called something using "wave" or "waveguide". Hartmut Holzwart should also be credited.
  • "c/4 diagonal\nwaveguide\nNB 2006": that's a wick, not a wave. I suggest crediting the tubstretcher and tubeater separately. The tubeater was found by Hartmut Holzwart, 10 Nov 2004. The crab tubstretcher was found by Nicolay Beluchenko on 5 Aug 2005. You have the stretcher labeled elsewhere, but you should label it here as well since they are far apart.
  • "crab tubstretcher\nNB Aug 2005": this was found by Nicolay Beluchenko on 5 Aug 2005.
  • "growing spaceship\nNB 12 Aug 2006": I think you should have the label travel with the c/5 double tubeater instead of the crab wickstretchers. The c/5 double tubeater was found by Nicolay Beluchenko, 17 Jul 2006.
  • "pi ship AH 11 May 1994": Hartmut Holzwart should also be credited.
  • "antstretcher/tubstretcher\nNB 2006": found by Nicolay Beluchenko on 7 Jan 2006.
  • "Period-156 glider gun\nJS 28 Oct 2004": for consistency with the p256 gun label, "period-156" should be replaced with "p156". Alternatively, in the p256 gun label "p256" can be replaced with "Period-256".
  • "rhombic greyship\nNB 13 Apr 2005": this was found by Nicolay Beluchenko on 13 Apr 2006 (not 2005).
  • "wickstretcher\nHH 3 May 2005": I don't think this should be called a "wickstretcher" since there is no fencepost shown for it. Instead I would suggest calling it a "wick ship"
Additional labels to consider adding:
  • The tubeater following the antstretcher/tubstretcher combo was found by Nicolay Beluchenko on 15 Sep 2005.
  • Under the label for the period-156 glider gun there is a large glider eater found by Dean Hickerson on 25 Sep 1998
  • The tub-with-tail eater at the bottom center of the p256 could be labeled (is the discoverer really unknown?).
  • The long bookend glider eater in the upper right corner of the p256 gun was found by Dean Hickerson on 1 Nov 1998/
  • The p8 bouncer (bottom left of p256 gun) was discovered by Noam Elkies on 16 Sep 1998.

Closest I could find is the Thread for your engineered puffers in OCA. I guess that thread can be slightly repurposed to become a Thread for Discussion and Help Requests with Engineered Moving Objects?

Why did gun_752 and guntrue_752 formerly contain a mango?
I have discovered SKOP for 115, 188, 492 and gun_ and guntrue_ for 200, 226, 339, 752, 1944, 6624.

Without it, there's a bounding box glitch where it's considered to be smaller than it actually is.

It shouldn't have been removed.

It might be easier to find reactions that enter this sequence later. For the exact phase shown, there is only one octo3obj match:

Code: Select all

#C [[ STOP 100 ]]
x = 38, y = 12, rule = B3/S23

For generation 1 of the pattern, there are already 30 octohash results, 9 octo3g results, and 94 octo3obj results. For the final constellation, there are 101 octohash results and 19 octo3g results.

Code: Select all

#C octo3g results for the final constellation

It might be easier to find reactions that enter this sequence later. For the exact phase shown, there is only one octo3obj match:

Code: Select all

#C [[ STOP 100 ]]
x = 38, y = 12, rule = B3/S23
36bo$35bo$35b3o$31bo$31bo$3b2o26bo$4bo23bo$o3bo22bobo$b3o23bobo$28bo$
31b2o$31b2o!
For generation 1 of the pattern, there are already 30 octohash results, 9 octo3g results, and 94 octo3obj results. For the final constellation, there are 101 octohash results and 19 octo3g results.

Code: Select all

#C octo3g results for the final constellation
x = 1299, y = 31, rule = B3/S23

With 2 states there are 102 possible 3x3 windows, accounting for rotations and reflections (Hensel notation) and 2^102 possible rules. This is a number with 31 decimal digits: 5070602400912917605986812821504.

If I'm not mistaken, there are 2862 possible 3x3 windows (see this forum post), accounting for symmetries. Hence there are 3^2862 possible rules; this is a number with 1366 decimal digits: 3319181549...1574242809.

Note that some of these rules may be equivalent, because a certain 3x3 neighbourhood can never occur as a result of evolution in a certain rule, unless present at T = 0.

What are known periodic replacements for the beehive push catalyst?

At least there is a p5 V sparker.

I think the most accurate answer is "Some."

This won't be much help, but I do remember the topic coming up at least once before, early in the Extrementhusiast Era sometime, when conversion components were being collected and catalogued in a big way.

I think the consensus was that things like this, where something complicated was used as raw material but none of the original object's structure remained in the final object, really can't be counted as conversion components -- they're really just a weird variety of ex nihilo recipe where the bait material is unusually expensive.

(I tried searching for "ex nihilo" in hopes that someone would have used that phrase the last time this came up, but no luck there.)

A New Conjecture for Spaceship

Post by Oma nai » January 28th, 2023, 1:08 am

Can we find spaceships operation in variable speed?
I think these spaceships need to change it's appearance.And discard some wastes from them.
