Two soups containing breeders misidentified as zz_LINEAR instead of the correct zz_QUADRATIC or zz_EXPLOSIVE.

Some ov_p2s have apparently appeared in the C1 census. However, the soups that produce the "p2" are just completely normal soups. I suspect this is a separation issue that treats normal ash as a single object.
B2n3-jn/S1c23-y is an interesting rule. It has a replicator, a fake glider, an OMOS and SMOS, a wide variety of oscillators, and some signals. Also this rule is omniperiodic.

In both soups, there are points in their evolution where the soup is entirely stabilized except for a single glider which collides with something and reignites it.

That may be so, but it's logically incorrect to separate out gliders or other spaceships, unless they are at an outside edge, far enough away that it's impossible for them to collide with anything else.

wow, that is a bit wild. I can see the reason why apgsearch did that, maybe it needs to check for more than 4 cycles(in case of a failed rro) but might increase the search time. and 6 for hexagonal rules.

The xq13386 in this rule is sometimes misidentified as "yl429_1_-3_840ae4d79b0bce1dd50b1f250c01b483". It consists of a c/3d wickstretcher connected to a slightly faster fuse that burns at 48c/143d. I have not seen this in other rules with similar high-period spaceships.

My theory is that if apgsearch starts identifying the spaceship after a certain time limit, then it detects that the "rotating puffer" has a population that increases with a period of 4362 and 2 types of difference (4 and 6 due to the two phases of the p2) that sum to 10 cells.

Similarly, the pattern's population appears to decrease with a period of 429 and only 1 type of difference at -3 cells. Certainly interesting.

This is not a bug. Past period 130, Catagolue just assumes the prefix is accurate, since it takes too long to actually simulate the oscillator. This is also why you don't see the min/max population or the rulespace.

https://catagolue.hatsya.com/census/b3s ... soups/xs10 has an invalid still life at the very bottom of the list (xs10_g8ov52z01). The object page itself will just tell you the object is invalid, which makes it hard to see the attributes for this object.
Edit: This has been removed from the symmetry it came from (D8_1), and thus will be removed from all-soups the next time it updates.

It looks like a boat-tie where one of the characters in the apgcode got replaced with a capital letter or some other invalid character.

We just got mildly unlucky, that's all. The odds of both of them appearing in the most recent 2.6 trillion soups, out of 10 trillion, are 6.76%.

It is impossible to view the hauls in b34ws23/D8_1. This is probalematic because I need to be able to discern the discovery date of an object in this rule.

The census b34w6ns23-e7/C1, last updated on 18 March 2017, is missing a pie chart.
This happens for many censuses with very old most recent submitted hauls. I think it can be solved by submitting a new haul not smaller than the largest previously submitted haul and waiting until it goes green and the census page cache refreshes.

The census for rule B2c3ae4ai56c/S2-kn3-enq4 contains a lot of invalid still lifes. For example, it contains a dot even though the rule doesn't contain S0.

In the latest commit, two glider guns of periods 8213 and 9847 (from this post) are not accepted.

Code: Select all

Checking periodicity with exponent 10...
Checking periodicity with exponent 12...
Checking periodicity with exponent 14...
Checking periodicity with exponent 16...
Oscillation not detected (try increasing maxexp?)
# Not a gun
But an earlier commit admitted gun_6579 successfully.

Code: Select all

Checking periodicity with exponent 10...
Checking periodicity with exponent 12...
Checking periodicity with exponent 14...
Checking periodicity with exponent 16...
True period: 6579
Stream period: 6579
#CSYNTH gun_6579 costs 10744 cells.
#C period 6579 fullperiod 6579 bbox 136 by 79
Is there some limit/threshold on the period of gun like 8192? If yes, please elevate because I have submitted them again.

Double post after two months.
1. Catagolue has been faced with a serious 503 Over Quota for about an hour; how to find out the cause?
2. When updating synthesis, jobs log like this mentions a lengthy list of apgcodes mysteriously, saying "435 apgcodes with better syntheses in Catagolue: ..." What does it mean?
3. Check the xp264 entry on Syntheses. Why is the name "period-sextupled period-44 pi-heptomino hassler" assigned to a trivial p264 (I see it being p88 on one side and p132 on the other) rather than a nontrivial p264?
