Catagolue Oddities
Re: Catagolue Oddities
What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!

Is it just me or are the images significantly offset to the side here?

Help wanted: How can we accurately notate any 1D replicator?
Re: Catagolue Oddities
Yes, it's because it uses the pattern's bounding box, which then becomes a parallelogram when you apply the affine transformation (to make the hexagonal cells regular), and that parallelogram is then used to determine the image's bounding box.muzik wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2021, 6:08 amIs it just me or are the images significantly offset to the side here?

Re: Catagolue Oddities
"something" was imported from an older census, and ":D" was Calcyman's idea of a joke.
Each day is a hidden opportunity, a frozen waterfall that's waiting to be realised, and one that I'll probably be ignoring

I don't think it was my idea; I copied it from an anonymous comment someone made on the page.

xs19_0br0f96z321's name appears to have a typo. Dock should be replaced with block.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Someone apparently added some messless objects to the C1 census that don't meet the 500 threshold: https://catagolue.hatsya.com/census/b3s23/C1/messless

Why does a vacuum cost three gliders?

Why would someone bother to optimally synthesise literal nothing?

Re: Catagolue Oddities
The page itself https://catagolue.hatsya.com/object/xs0_0/b3s23 correctly says that the vacuum costs 0 gliders.
Re: Catagolue Oddities
If you remove B3/S23/C1 for a sample soup, it displays the same soup in a different file format.
Edit: In Morley/Move, it says that the glider is a spaceship.

B2n3-jn/S1c23-y is an interesting rule. It has a replicator, a fake glider, an OMOS and SMOS, a wide variety of oscillators, and some signals. Also this rule is omniperiodic.

Re: Catagolue Oddities
Maze (b3s12345) is listed on the list of rules as having one symmetry, but the rule's page doesn't have any symmetries. what happened?

Re: Catagolue Oddities
Older versions of apgsearch incorrectly assumed the glider would be a spaceship somehow. Just gotta wait until apgoucher adds -33435277 gliders to the census.cgoler2 wrote: ↑May 10th, 2021, 6:38 pmEdit: In Morley/Move, it says that the phaseof the glider is a spaceship.Code: Select all

Catagolue classifies P1 Spaceship as Still lifes.

Edit:This pattern is classified as ov, even though it is less than 40x40 in size.

Why is xs20_yo33zo4oyaccz01y32552 so expensive? Shouldn't transfer.py have reduced it with add beehive and add block components?
