Is there any way to have this be classified properly as a linear growth and not zz_LINEAR?

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = B3-cjkq4knqy5cnr7/S02-cn3-ak4eiq5kq6e7e

I think it’s well over the limit apgsearch tries, but I believe there’s some way to modify the code to make it work

The highway is only p2250 in this rule, so I'm not sure why it defaults to zz_LINEAR. Maybe because of the complex underlying behaviour.

I even tried inputting the highway directly, with no success:

Code: Select all

x = 64, y = 43, rule = B3-cjkq4knqy5cnr7/S02-cn3-ak4eiq5kq6e7e

So smiley is significantly more common in G1 at the 5% significance level, but Achim's p8 is not.
Given the amount of objects that appear on Catagolue, we might want to use a 5σ confidence level or higher.

Is there a way for Catagolue to automatically generate names of objects that are one induction coil on another with an empty row/column in between?

For example, this would be alef on griddle:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 9, rule = B3/S23
2ob2o$bobo$bo3bo$2b4o2$2b6o$2bo4bo$4bobo$4bo!
EDIT:

1 cell:
Boat, tub, beehive, loaf

2 cells:
Block, boat, beehive, loaf, ship, mango, snake, pond, long boat, beacon, bipole, tripole, quadpole, mold

3 cells:
House, bun, bookend, wing, dove, G, hungry G, house tie boat, honeycombinator, tub with nine, boat with nine, teardrop, tub with leg, boat with leg, barge with leg, long boat with leg

4 cells:
Dock, table, cap, alef, racetrack, anvil, long bookend, candlefrobra, tub with long leg, cis-boat with long leg, trans-boat with long leg, beehive with long leg, loaf with long leg, table siamese snake, tub with long nine, cis-boat with long nine, trans-boat with long nine

5 cells:
Very long house, worm, clip, long table siamese snake, hungry worm

6 cells:
Griddle, bookend siamese table, very long dock, long worm weld carrier, long clip

7: pi eater, extremely long dock

8: length-8 table with block, cis-mirrored worm siamese table

Non-contiguous:

Will apgsearch be updated in the near future? B0 rules are broken in the new version.

apgsearch v5.18-ll2.3.7 is sometimes aborting after completing a haul on my computer while it's asleep. I'm not sure if this affects the new version as well, since I avoid it to be able to run B0, and this started happening only yesterday.

EDIT: It does not appear to be related to sleep mode, but rather happens spontaneously. It seems to happen more often if there are too many runnign processes using the internet.
EDIT2: The issue is probably related to server glitches at Catagolue's end.

Whoever haukeworpel is PLEASE stop searching B456/S234. It's clogging up Catagolue and making hauls take hours to submit.

Sometimes Catagolue does not display correctly the rulespace where a given object works unchanged. For example, I think the following spaceship works in two INT rules (S4c is optional):

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B34cy5e6ci8/S23-cy4ey5e6ik
3o$2bo$b2o!
However, neither of two pages (one, two) displays links to the minrule and the maxrule.
(For an example where the rulespace is displayed correctly, the page for the glider says "This evolutionary sequence works in multiple rules, from b3aijns2ae3jnr through to b2ikn34-r5-n678s0234-k5678." which seems correct.)
127:1 B3/S234c User:Confocal/R (isotropic rules, incomplete)
Unlikely events happen.
My silence does not imply agreement, nor indifference. If I disagreed with something in the past, then please do not construe my silence as something that could change that.

That is because its period is above 128. Compare xp128_y3ca73oswcczyqg88gzy1ggyh6bbcxca4z8ko010onmcy04eewuscy26dt30g0352z4a6x6qqcyh11zy01221zyh66w73osa6 and xp130_y133y9ggyd33z33x6952y6322oo488oy6756x33zwml2yc1mkkk2ya2lmzw121g8gy92dcg89cy6ggg121z33x1221y6355yc321x33zy133ys33 and you can see that.

There is a serious shortcoming in the HROT notation. Because the neighborhood count starts at 1, it is impossible to specify an HROT rule with S0.

There is a serious shortcoming in the HROT notation. Because the neighborhood count starts at 1, it is impossible to specify an HROT rule with S0.
Append a 'z' to the very end of the rulestring (at the end of the survival transitions) if you want S0.

New hauls, such as in b2ce3ack4ewy5ceiy6cs12a3ceq4ckr5eijk7e/C1 and b38s23/C1, are not being committed to Catagolue, except in B0 rules.

Regular old b3s23/c1 is still going through. Is catagolue just backed up because there's a b0something haul getting uploaded every few seconds, faster than can be cleared out?

This is exactly what was found at discord. Processing of B0 hauls has been temporarily suspended.

503 Over Quota right now
\sum_{n=1}^\infty H_n/n^2 = \zeta(3)

How much of current CA technology can I redevelop "on a desert island"?

Yeah, losing some big hauls like that is kind of annoying.

You will always get the chance to resubmit those when it is back again, unless your haul is just has too much information : )

Why are LtL and HROT rules more sensitive to zz and PATHOLOGICAL than OT and INT rules?

Code: Select all

because of the range of the neighbourhood. when apgsearch tries to separate objects it will separate these far away but when one get removed the other cells might get affected even though they are more than two cells apart, and apgsearch gets confused. Just my guess.

I was trying to update the wiki on the oscillator page. This p856 beats the previous loop for SKOP, but I can't get an apgcode. (The only reason 856 is mentioned at all is because there's a different p856 that's historical.)

I think it is this: link to Catagolue (found using this script posted by Ian07; biggiemac-script.py failed on this pattern).

It seems like that Catagolue's synthesis update process is timing out. Apparently, that is because I submitted large amounts of syntheses of the 4-glider database to Catagolue before realizing the possibility that I can simply make a pull request to Shinjuku:

Here is the list of pipelines for Catagolue's update process; The most recent ones are timed out.
https://gitlab.com/apgoucher/catagolue/-/pipelines

Are there any ways to get rid of this issue so that normal syntheses can be accepted again? I suggest putting a limit to the nonmagical box that no more than 100 syntheses can be submitted at once, or lower the upper size limits of RLEs submitted to the box.

Edit: The readsynth queue has just been cleared by calcyman. The box should be working now.
