On the other hand, that soup does mean that it is possible for a 2-engine cordership to show up in Catagolue, we'll get one eventually.
Edit: So, in other words, "Theoretically natural".

Unfortunately we do not have a SHA-256 hash for the one-bit-modified C1 soup that produces it, so it cannot be counted as natural.
I'm saying that BECAUSE that still life is asymmetrical, it wasn't helped by the symmetry of the soup, and would not have been any more likely to form.
Randomness is evil.

I'd still consider it natural, since symmetry wouldn't help with the formation of an asymmetrical object.

why is this the definition of "natural"
Because if you just said "appeared from a 16x16 soup", then Macbi's engineered-using-SAT-solvers soup would qualify the 2-engine Cordership as natural:
Code: Select all
x = 16, y = 16, rule = B3/S23
o2bob2o$o3b2ob2o2bob2o$bo2bo4bo3bobo$10b4o$2b2obo3bobobo$o4b4o3bob2o$
4b2o2b3o2bo$b2o2bo2bo6bo$4b2o2b2o3bobo$3o2b2o2b2o4bo$ob2ob2o2b2obo$o2b
obo4b2obo$3ob2ob2o4b3o$o2bob2o2bo3bobo$3o4bo3b2ob2o$b2obo2b4obo2bo!
and a good way to prevent this sort of funny business is to use a cryptographic hash function.

So everything is "theoretically natural" until we census all...2^256 soups. Uh, that's 78 digits long.

Every finite pattern is "theoretically natural" if the soups are large enough.

I guess I meant theoretically natural from a 16 by 16 soup.

appspot.com is the Google App Engine. Having Catagolue's main domain under a Google site is a bad idea for the Chinese users. Moving to catagolue.hatsya.com allows access to Catagolue for everyone.

Nope, those are backups of synthesis-costs made every 10 days. They may have gotten a bit cluttery on the B3/S23 rule page over time, but it's not a bug.

Hatsya.co.uk is not very stable in mainland china either.

Just an FYI. Last night, someone created and submitted hauls to b3s23/C1 with these user names:
The LifeWiki contains one of the most comprehensive catalogues of patterns available on the internet
For ADs messege(long mesagge), minimum size of hauls must be set to increase the cost of spamming
to prevent vandalize and mischief, protecting the server from crash, some rules should be set
the cost of attack is hauls size of 2000+ , only need half second in a single core computer
a simple bash script can automatically scroll messages

Nah, it seems like somebody is sort of kind of trying to be a white hat hacker, by demonstrating a weakness in the current Catagolue haul system. The above is a sample of a "scrolling message" that could be any message that a spammer might want to have displayed (to our huge captive user base).

Apparently you failed to read the sandbox. This is the white hat hacker:

I really don't see why would someone vandalize catagolue though.

There's currently a bug in which all of Google seems to be broken if you're logged in, which affects Catagolue as well.
You can avoid this by opening Catagolue in an 'Incognito tab' in Chrome or a 'private window' in Firefox.

It appears that a total of 999.4 trillion objects were contributed from asymmetric soups (C1 and G1). We are definitely inching closer and closer to 10^15 objects.
C1 may reach 10^15 objects in January 2021 if soup-searching remains at its current pace.

Indeed, 10^15 objects is definitely coming in C1.
What's more of an unknown is when all 15-bit still lifes will have shown up. After a large burst of seven found in the first quarter of 2020, progress has slowed to a trickle, with just a single new xs15 turning up since then.
Here's a graph. Anyone care to make a prediction on when the last one will be found? I'll make a WAG and say... mid-2026.

Yes: go to the object page, then replace 'object' with 'attribute', then append '/ikpx2_stdin' to the URL:
https://catagolue.hatsya.com/attribute/ ... kpx2_stdin
It looks like they're owned by inspirehep (a.k.a. Dylan Chen).
