Defining a hassler

Since there doesn't seem to be a clear idea as to what exactly defines a "hassler" (LifeWiki has a page on "hassle" but not "hassler"), I think it's best that we as a community settle the matter before someone loses their sanity. There was some discussion about the matter on Talk:Octomino II hasslers, but that went south quickly and nothing was added to that conversation since the 7th, and it doesn't seem like it will come back to life anytime soon. (there was also this, but it went quiet too.)

So i've decided to start this thread to successfully come to a consensus on what defines a "hassler", and to update the wiki when that happens.

To start off, here is my definition of a "hassler":
a Hassler is an oscillator that works by manipulating the evolution of one (1) or more unstable patterns using still lifes and/or other oscillators.
It's likely an inadequate definition for this, so i would like to hear any ideas anyone might have.
