Exactly. Any reflector would need to occupy the same space as the reaction, unless it was some convoluted G->G converter, say, that split the glider into several copies, then synthesized a new one in front of the tub from a distance.
Besides, there is no catalysis here, since all of the objects in the source reaction are destroyed. None if them is a catalyst.
