Heh, you're right. But at the same time, I wonder what I was even thinking back then.MathAndCode wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2020, 12:30 pmThe important part is that you're improving. Re: Random posts
That's part of why it's irrational.
Also, which small methuselah without very large ash has the most typical ash composition? My best so far is 3o$3bo$2bobo$2bo$bo$2o, but b2o$o2b2o$obo$2bo$bobo$2bo comes close.
Edit: b3o$o2bo$2o2bo$b2obo is close but should have one or two (preferably two) more blinkers.
Another edit: bo$o$b2o$o2b2o$2o2bo has first place now, but it could use one boat and one ship.
Yet another edit: 2o$2bo$2bo2bo$bob2o$2bobo deserves an honorable mention but has several atypicalities, such as having too many boats relative to its number of beehives, loaves, and gliders.
Fourth edit: 2bo$o2bobo$3o$3bo$2bo would be perfect if it formed a loaf.

Thank you for your effort and dedication. However, I'd argue that that's too contrived to count. In general, I feel that constructed methuselahs shouldn't count for anything. For example, here's a methuselah that lasts for over 50,000 generations that I would argue is obviously contrived and shouldn't count for any longevity records.wwei23 wrote: ↑October 4th, 2020, 11:08 pmHere, I fixed your methuselah.Code: Select all

JSeeker is going well. A traditional search program would need width 9 to find this oscillator, but JSeeker can find it at width 7 because this one phase is 7 cells wide.

Methuselahs are trivial once you allow for an arbitrary large bounding box. The reason is obvious.MathAndCode wrote: ↑October 5th, 2020, 10:09 amThank you for your effort and dedication.
