Yet another boring SW-2, worth posting (but not using) because it comes from a wacky Bellman result.

It's nice to see that someone else is thinking along the same lines as me. Unfortunately, the only way to fix that is to hook it up to another copy of itself, which leads to high repeat time.

Code: Select all

x = 63, y = 69, rule = B3/S23History

There's another way for a beehive to serve as a one-glider seed for an R-pentomino, but that wouldn't have the right position either. Unfortunately, because gliders are small and move only forwards rather than outwards, they're practically impossible to perturb with stable, permanent catalysts without being completely eaten, so any G→X would requires a transparent catalyst, which typically does not get put back. The only exception that I know of is this reaction.

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 15, rule = Symbiosis
9.B.B$9.2B$10.B9$2.2B$.B2.B$A.2B.A$2.A!
#C [[ GPS 15 T 34 PAUSE 1.3 ]]
Unfortunately, Symbiosis conduits are only a proof of concept and not a proof of practicality. In this case, the interaction involves a fairly large die-off of cells, and the two cells that the glider interacts with must stick out beyond the rest of the conduit, which makes recovery difficult. This method only has a possibility of being worth searching because of the difficulty of finding ways to reform the initial object that the glider crashed into in the exact same spot with the correct orientation.
Also, while I was editing your conduit, I found that the placement of the snake-style conduit in Conduit 1 is just right for a boat-bit reaction with the first natural glider of the Herschel that would form if one removes the block (although it's almost certainly only an independent discovery). I also found a useless B eater (which is also almost certainly an independent discovery).

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 10, rule = B3/S23

I am tentatively considering myself back.

An extra block attached to Beluchenko's p40:

x = 17, y = 14, rule = B3/S23
