goldenratio wrote: February 24th, 2021, 11:26 pmMe too, except I also worry about the still lives and p2 oscillators which were never censused in G1 soups.
But those are only the common still lives and p2 oscillators, right? I don't think that it's important that we have a list of every soup that has produced at least one loaf or even at least one pulsar.
FYI The GPU checks the period of the final ash and not what it actually contains, so no, rare still lives and p2 oscillators are not reported.

Are you sure? this soup only produces still-lifes, p2 oscillators, and gliders, for example.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Hebdarole weld doesn't fit but it's probably not possible to save the glider anyways. Posting here for amusement purposes.

I found this video about bait-and-switch phenomena; I think it's rather interesting (it's pretty long so I skipped to the interesting part, about 42 minutes in)

I suspected that the link was a bait-and-swtich phenomenon but was expected it to be to Never Gonna Give You Up (until I saw that you included a timestamp in the link).
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Spread the word about fast components!

Post by MathAndCode »

Users who (I know) have been convinced of the usefulness of fast components at the time of my typing this post:
  • MathAndCode
  • iNoMed
  • Kazyan
Spread the word!
I'd also include a list of the objects whose synthesis costs have been reduced by fast components so far, but it's already too long for me to bother making a comprehensive list, and I'm sure that it would be much shorter than the list of still lives whose synthesis costs can be reduced by fast components but haven't because Catagolue only shows one glider synthesis for each object or because we haven't looked at them yet because there are so many potential still lives for which fast components could help.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Fast component advertising bad! -Huntsey

I don't see advertisements about fast components, VesselLife or SkiLife any better than LeapLife advertisements, especially in completely inappropiate places (e. g. as a reply to a LeapLife discussion, and inside a LeapLife rant).
