rebus [game]
it's called "rebus", where people can make "rebuses" for other people to solve. for context, a rebus is a puzzle device depicting some sort of word, action or phrase with individual letters on different colours and sizes.
for example,
head
heels
the words "head" and "heels" are arranged so that "head" is on top of "heels", which depicts the phrase "head over heels"
now that you all understand the rules of the game, here are a bunch of rebuses (in ascending order of difficulty) for you all to solve :D

Re: rebus [game]
SQ1: greenhouse
SQ2: downtown
SQ3: man overboard
SQ4: green eggs and ham
SQ5: missing you - I'll admit I only know this one from a similar puzzle, where the rebus is ABCDEFGHIJKMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ and the answer is Noël. Aidan's no u is also valid, but probably not what was intended.
SQ6: trail mix
SQ7: for once in my life - This one stumped me, and I ended up having to Google it.
SQ8: Space Invaders
SQ9: travel overseas - Aidan's overseas travel, given the structure of the rebus, ends up being technically incorrect.
SQ10: metaphor - This one stumped me too, although only on the basis that I thought it was four metas.
PR1: cross-purpose
PR2: flying under the radar
PR3: shouting fire in a crowded theatre - This one is a bit of a stretch, but it's really the only one that makes sense.
PR4: sharp pain
PR5: eyeball
PR6: small potatoes - Dubious. I chose this based on the American expression, but it could also mean, say, small fry.
PR7: end of the world
PR8: moving walkway - or whatever you call it
PR9: dropping keys
PR10: global warming
MS1: subprime mortgage - I mean, it's not that wrong…
SP1: hyperlink - Very technical and CA-related. Solution: The values are state counts for LifeHistory, LifeSuper and LifeUltra respectively, so the next item would likely be LifeHyper, which probably won't ever exist. "sheet" is styled with colours, and `rel="stylesheet"` is commonly found in <link> HTML tags, so the answer is "hyperlink".

Re: rebus [game]
Mostly what I was intending! #1 is supposed to be cross purposes, idk if that's disallowed by some arcane rebus rule you seem to know about but I don't. #4 is acute pain, but yours also works. #6 I'm curious why you called it dubious... #8 is literally moving sidewalk, although I suppose if you want to you can adjust it on a regional basis. #9 is bent keys.bubblegum wrote: ↑March 20th, 2021, 4:04 amPR1: cross-purpose

Re: rebus [game]
Yes. Explanation: The "You" is in old english font, which means it should be "Thou". Combine that with the sand and you get thousand.
I'll come up with a new one later
