Anyone with concerns about this, please post them here if possible! It's pretty time-consuming to dig through all the relevant talk pages on the LifeWiki, and it's easy for me to miss things when I'm trying to do this kind of bulk clean-up job.
Regarding Gocow, I would like to merge it, along with 51P20H10V0, into the HWSS page, as examples of 2 HWSSes escorting an unstable object. I'd be glad to do that.
Merge done. Gocow and 51P20H10V0 redirect to HWSS.

Can the viewer be modified so there is no plaintext link displayed when there is no plaintext file?

The Pianola breeder article on the wiki asks for an RLE. There is one in the forum thread pointed to on the wiki page, but it is too big for the LifeViewer. What to do?

Honestly I might be tempted to just remove the {{Requestpatternfile}} template, and maybe add some slightly more specific wording about how the patterns in question can be found attached to the relevant forum post (the link is right there in the References list).

Ordinarily we might well want something like this in the online LifeWiki pattern collection. A LifeWiki admin certainly _could_ upload some version of those three attached files to conwaylife.com/patterns.

I'm just not sure we really want to explode the size of all.zip to that degree. If we include the pianola breeders, we might well also want to include somewhere between fifty and a hundred other patterns of similar size -- Orthogonoid variants, linear propagator variants, Snark-wickstretcher and spiral growth variants, Hydra/QGC1/Slavic variants, Speed Demonoid variants, etc., etc.

We do have a few big patterns in all.zip already, but obviously we've been a little ambivalent about ending up with an all.zip that's many dozens of megabytes in size... seems to me that it's supposed to be more a reference collection of smaller stuff, not megapatterns.

I agree with each of your points, thus my hesitancy to act. I have the same issue with Remini.

I have designed a new template:Nbh-demo to show different outer-totalistic neighbourhoods with LifeViewer, and it works well for me. But now I am uncertain if I should continue to use them for isotropic non-totalistic transitions, because for me the existing images for R1 square and hexagonal Moore and R2 von Neumann are of appropriate quality in LifeWiki standards. Opinions?

When you're on the page it redirects to, you'll see below the title "(Redirected from [x])". Click on that link and it'll take you back to the redirect where you can edit it.

Why hasn't the online golly at http://golly.sourceforge.net/webapp/golly.html been updated with new patterns?

EDIT: this has been addressed one year later with the development of Golly 4.2. Previously it was at some old 3.x version.

Yeah, sorry for the error messages and weirdness. I was hoping the update would be painless, but you never really know until you actually do the update. Still working on cleaning everything up.

Edit: Update done now. See the announcement here.

Why is "www." omitted before "conwaylife.com" as the canonical URL?

Whatever reason for that, though, the navbar on the home&forums end should be updated as well, preferably matching this edit on LifeWiki — especially on the "linking to Catagolue and LifeViewer" part!

Just because the "www." doesn't serve any purpose, and it's better to have *some* fixed canonical URL so as to avoid things like this CORS issue that came up recently. To be clear, "www." URLs still work here, and will always work, but they'll do a redirect to the non-www URL.

I'll adjust other links throughout the site to remove any hard-coded instances of "www." once I get around to doing the home page refresh.

Could you activate User:List of troll patterns?
There may be too much Japanese spreading over the wiki and I shall take action.

On the Wiki page for the Seal the subscriptions to the LifeViewer figures in the main text don't match the patterns themselves:
The leftmost LifeViewer pattern should be restored to the former Beluchenko's pattern of Seal and Tagalong (in green), see Ian07's version.
The next pattern can then be the Seal + Tagalong_+Tagalong as posted in the Spaceship discussion thread by following the link.
