Non-Spaceship Eaters

Post by HerscheltheHerschel » November 10th, 2023, 2:57 pm

This is a thread for non-spaceship eaters.
For example, this is a dove eater by qqd based on my dove-to-beehive factory:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 17, rule = B3/S23
2o$2o5$9b2o$9b2o6$3b3o4b2o$2bo2bo4b2o$bo2bo$2b2o!
superstrings, fuses, waves, wicks, and agars are cool

I think HtH's intention was to find eaters for common/any active regions. (Feel free to correct me, HtH.)

You are on the right track, but the pattern is uncertain to be useful to make a hassler. A hassler has an active region that reappears in the same place over and over again, while in this pattern, it dies fairly quickly. Search programs are typically used to make arrangements of catalysts for hasslers.
I do not know if there is a catalyst that can replace the barge, but a search program like Barrister or Silk can be used to find new catalysts for a specific reaction. You can follow the tutorials on LifeWiki to install software that helps find hasslers. CGoL exploration with search programs can be intimidating; do not be afraid to ask questions if you need help.
EDIT: this specific reaction can be supported by sparkers, such as the pentadecathlon:

Code: Select all

x = 39, y = 17, rule = B3/S23
20b2o$bo2b2o4b2o2bo5b2o$o3b3o2b3o3bo$bo2b2o4b2o2bo2$20b3o$20bo$20b3o2$

Can a hassler be sparkers spawning and bouncing a signal? eg. like a honey farm constantly moving to a second chamber and killing the other while growing then repeating
