This is a predecessor of a pi-heptomino.
Go to gen 44

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 12, rule = B3/S23
obob3obo3b3o$obobo3bo3bobo$3ob3obo3b3o$obobo3bo3bo$obob3ob3obo3$o3bob
5o$2ob2obo$obobob5o$o3bobo$o3bob5o!
Predecessors of a common methuselah are very common and not notable (please refer to LW:NB).
Please use pattern tags instead of LV tags. If you can't find the button, it's at the right of Catagolue button, which is at the right of LV button. LV tags directly summon a large embedded LifeViewer, which can be painful to use on narrow screen devices.

If I am trusted, I will put a puffer on lifewiki.
@LWSSONHWSSONLWSS, I'm a bit worried that if I check your trusted flag, you'll take that as permission to create an article for that puffer. Please don't do that. If we added a separate article for every puffer that we know how to create, we'd have millions of articles and would have a very hard time finding the interesting ones.

If you have more details about that particular puffer that makes you think that it's notable, please post that information somewhere like the Unsure Discoveries thread, and see what people say about whether it makes sense to put it on the LifeWiki.

I can still check your trusted flag, as soon as an acknowledgment shows up here that your plans have changed!
I mean I will put a puffer IN the page Coe ship.

How are you planning to do that, exactly? Is there already an article for the puffer you posted above, so that you could just make a minor edit to add it to a category?

If not, then please clearly acknowledge the advice given above. Then I can go ahead and check the trusted flag for your account.

Where that puffer comes from? Did you copy the pattern from another source (if so, please say what is the source / link to the source of the pattern)? Did you find it yourself (if so, please say so)?
LifeWiki:Notability applies; do not add your own discoveries yourself, and instead let other people judge whether they are notable to be added to the wiki.

I'm not finding a "WhiteHawk" account on the LifeWiki. You' have to create that account separately. Re-post here when you've done that.

I'm LittleLWSS. I've found some cool patterns. I want to publish them to LifeWiki, but I don't have any edit permission. Please trust me. I'm exactly a human. And I also want to make some minor edit and fix error on LifeWiki. Thank you!

Again, please consider posting patterns you found on the forums, instead of adding them to the wiki. The wiki is intended to collect knowledge about notable Life/CA-related topics (see LW:NB).

You created a page about a non-notable still life (xs28_4s3qq3s4z11622611), and added a name that you apparently invented yourself. (Neither lifesrch nor Catagolue gives any name for this 28-bit still life.) That page should be deleted.

LW:NB says specifically that a person who found a pattern, invented a name or a term should not be the one to add it to the wiki. If you want to share a pattern or an idea, then post it on the forums, and let other people see whether it's new, and whether it's interesting and notable enough for the wiki.

Further, the forum rules (rule 4) say specifically:

"Some specific examples of discoveries that won't be of interest to this community include:
A new still life."

which means that by default, large still lives aren't notable, unless they have some interesting rare property or can participate in a rare reaction (e.g. act as a catalyst).

@LittleLWSS, please spend some time reviewing confocaloid's explanation of LifeWiki standards. I set you up with a trusted flag specifically because you acknowledged that you understood LifeWiki notability guidelines, and promised to fix errors rather than adding articles about your own discoveries:

你说了" That's not the way that new articles get added to the LifeWiki",那等于完全没有让直接在整个LifeWiki里添加任何页面(除了用户页面)吗?如果是,我完全可以不用登录这个账号!

English: You said " That's not the way that new articles get added to the LifeWiki", is that equals to not add any pages except User page or User-Talk page(Or, add new topic to talking page)? If so, then I'll log out(because I don't need to log in)!

Please read very carefully the forum rules, LifeWiki:Notability, and LifeWiki:Style guide.

So far, according to my observations, you are making many forum posts and wiki edits that violate those rules and guidelines, in several different ways.

Not at all.

All it means is that you shouldn't add any pages about discoveries that you made yourself. It's fine to add articles about notable discoveries that other people made -- once you understand them well enough to create a good article about them.

The talk page edit ( https://conwaylife.com/w/index.php?diff ... did=153554 ) removed a previous reply from another person ( https://conwaylife.com/w/index.php?diff ... did=153553 ).

The talk page edit ( https://conwaylife.com/w/index.php?diff ... did=151340 ) edited a previous reply from another person ( https://conwaylife.com/w/index.php?diff ... did=151271 ).

Neither of this is how talk page discussions are supposed to work. Please do not edit replies by others.

Hi! I'm requesting trusted account status for the LifeWiki. (not to spam!)

I'm Jerry Felix, CTO of Brain-CA Technologies, Inc.
We're building an A.I. system using Cellular Automata.
Ultimately, our goal is a "brain on a chip".

I thought it might be of interest to this group.

Here's a 2-minute explainer video, if you are curious.

I got invited to present our breakthrough at a workshop of the International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA) last month in Buenos Aires. Here is a link to the paper that I presented, which gives some of the details, and how we started with some of Conway's ideas, and added purposeful complexity.

I'm happy to answer any questions.

I'd also be happy to create a page on the LifeWiki explaining what we're doing - but I don't want to spam the wiki, so I'll wait to see if there's interest. I'm not a believer in self-promotion, but I figured this might be of interest to y'all. (if not, sorry to have bothered you!)

I'm reachable using the brain-ca.com email system, with the user name jfelix.

This may or may not be of interest to people here. Why not make a forum post instead, here on the conwaylife.com forums, explaining what you are doing? (For example in the General Discussion subforum.)

I think beginning from modifications to the wiki is not a very good way to determine whether or not there is interest.
Please note that LW:NB says specifically that a person who found a pattern, invented a name or a term should not be the one to add it to the wiki. I think this also applies in this case; people who did something shouldn't be the same people who would document it in LifeWiki.

Apart from that, the wiki is not very convenient for discussing topics of interest to the community. A forum thread would work better for discussion.

Agreed. As I said, I am not here to spam a wiki.
I don't plan on creating a page or self-promoting. I think I mentioned that.

I was guided here by the wiki, which told me to request trusted access, which was the reason for my comment.

LifeWiki > Create Account > Request Trusted Access.
