I just found a Spartan catalyst that may or may not be considered transparent, depending on one's definition of "transparent":
It is, in some ways, a counterpart to Bellman One, in that it attacks the pre-TL from the opposite side. Unfortunately, it cannot catalyze a straight-up pre-TL, instead requiring another pattern to perturb the pre-TL as well. It may or may not be useful.

Fairly robust 3c/14 movement:
It reappears exactly as it starts, but it gets destroyed by some extra blinkers it makes. It doesnt need a blinker to push it, but the blinker has the nice advantage that it reappears exactly where it needs to be. The form I discovered it in leads to the above state by pushing the pre-pulsar with some other reaction that didn't involve a blinker.
I don't imagine that this speed will be made into a spaceship any time soon, but this engine seems like it would be a good start for such a search.

I suppose in the 1990's someone might have quietly discarded it because they didn't know about our new reliable salvage-a-B-output BBx187H yet. Or there's a B-to-G that can connect to it, too -- BNW39T172.
Are there other B-input circuits that fit? I wish there were more -- it's such a nice Spartan conduit. BRx46B can technically be attached, but then I don't know what to do with that output B.

Which phenomenon do you want a name for? Looks like the rightmost parasite gets killed off around T=1000000, I'm not sure why -- something gets in the way of either the glider heading NE or the glider bouncing back SW. Must be a pretty rare event, whatever it is.drc wrote:What is this?...

"Parasite" is from Mitchell Riley, who saw these things growing on a p8 backrake in August 2009, I think. It might have been Bill Gosper who called them "parasites". See this old blog post, or the following sample pattern (from the blog post) with a couple of parasites breeding, or something:
