A still-smaller middleweight emulator-like oscillator:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 3, rule = extendedlife
.3A$2AB2A$A.E.A!
Also, a fumarole reduction:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 5, rule = extendedlife
3.2A$.A4.A$.A4.A$A.A2BA.A$.A.2E.A!
And a p3 sparker:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 5, rule = extendedlife
3.A2$A5.A$2.3B$2A3E2A!
A sort-of-sparker:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 6, rule = extendedlife
4.2A2$2.A4.A$A8.A$A2.4B2.A$.2A4E2A!
Another:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 7, rule = extendedlife
5.A$4.A.A2$2.A5.A$A9.A$A2.5B2.A$.2A5E2A!

One of your p5 sparkers can be hassled at p34 by a perma-off, of all things:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 5, rule = extendedlife
3.E3A$.A6.A$.A6.A$A.A4BA.A$.A.4E.A!
EDIT:
drc wrote:I think [the repeat time of the signal] is 6.
The period of the signal is 6. The repeat time (also referred to as minimum following distance) is indeed 12.

Lets call it Scaffold for now, other name ideas are accepted.
I feel like maybe we need a wiki for this rule, it's so interesting!

I'm terrible with wiki though, so somebody should create an infobox

EDIT: multipurpose eater, withperiod 8 for glider, period 6 for lwss and mwss, and period 7 with hwss, which means pretty much any period:

Recently, I've been searching for birthforcer orbits, i.e. the various different ways that a single birthforcer and any number of normal cells can stabilize, much like someone (I forget who) did for the classic B-heptomino puffer. Here are the ones I've seen occur naturally (from various symmetries of initial conditions):

Code: Select all

x = 60, y = 415, rule = extendedlife

The ones in parentheses are stator-minimized versions that themselves did not appear, but a variant with a larger stator did (which is on its left).

I've also found this one, but the eaters were replaced by another copy of the left side:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 29, rule = extendedlife
8.A$8.3A$11.A$.A8.2A$.A$.A7$.2A$A$A.B$A$.2A7$.A$.A$.A8.2A$11.A$8.3A$
8.A!
...which makes me not want to include it, as it didn't fully occur naturally.

(When I've been searching for these, I've placed in other types of cells to perturb the initial birthforcer; I just make sure that none of those cells are involved in the final oscillator, or (if said cells were state 6) they could be replaced by normal cells.)

A G-to-LWSS with an abysmal, almost certainly suboptimal, repeat time of 160:

Code: Select all

x = 51, y = 52, rule = extendedlife
49.A$48.A$48.3A32$3.4C$3.CEFEC$3.CF2$.CF$.C$9.A$8.A$CF2.E3.3A$4.EFAE$
4.EBFE$4.4E$21.C$3.C4$23.C!
Edit: A better version with repeat time 70:

Code: Select all

x = 29, y = 23, rule = extendedlife
26.A$26.A.A$26.2A10$4.EFEC$3.CF$10.E$.CF$.C$9.A$8.A$CF2.E3.3A$2.E.EFA

Found another one of those eater type things:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 9, rule = extendedlife

It doesn't really eat unless you use it as a blocker, and then it eats all gliders with this even/odd parity:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 7, rule = extendedlife
C2$3A6.A$.F6.2A$8.A.A$A.A$C!
EDIT: Sawtooth 114, loosely based upon Life's Sawtooth 177:

Code: Select all

x = 54, y = 55, rule = extendedlife
50.F7$41.C.A$43.A.A7.C$44.B$41.C7.A$43.A7.C$48.B$39.C7.A.A$49.A.C6$

14.2A5.A$14.2A3.A2.A$22.A$16.2A.A2.A$19.A2.A$20.2A$20.2A!
Reaches minimum population at T=0, 10440, and 10440 * 362 ^ (n--1) generations.
EDIT 2:

The sparker's p252; here's the minimal phase (pop. 14):

x = 7, y = 12, rule = extendedlife
