This is insane, by the way! I definitely agree that it looks like something out of Morley or another Life-like rule. Congrats, zdr, and hopefully we'll be able to use your method to find more ships like this one (does "there may be bugs in gfind" mean you developed your own search program/tweaked gfind or something?)
