Furthermore the gun's period is necessarily a multiple of four, so successive rakes emit gliders of the same colour square and phasing flavour.
I think that with sixteen copies of the mechanism, you can guarantee every possible pairing of phase and parity (eight phases * two parities). If four spinners can be composed into a delay of 8n+4 generations, then this could be reduced to eight copies of the mechanism.

To redress this, here is a collection of apostrophes that you can use to correct my past and future mistakes.
Thanks! :D
What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!

Do you also see similarity between R-pentomino and Switch engine in Conway's Life? It can be used as puffer, spaceship, rake, and one of this spaceships looks for me similar to 13-engine Cordership:

Code: Select all

x = 55, y = 46, rule = B37/S23

What do you think?
First question ever. Often referred to as The Question. When this question is asked in right place in right time, no one can lie. No one can abstain. But when The Question is asked, silence will fall. Silence must fall. The Question is: Doctor Who?

Yes, I am aware this thread is almost five years without a post, but I guess this is better than cluttering the place with unneccesary duplicates.

How about c/10 orthogonal technology? We have a c/10 spaceship, which, if not for two cells would be exactly the same as copperhead:

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 15, rule = B37/S23
2$11b2o$10b4o$11b2o$9b6o$10b4o2$9b2o2b2o$7b2obo2bob2o$10bo2bo3$11b2o$
11b2o!
I call this the "goldenhead". Because, you know, gold and copper are both not silver coloured.

The tagalong is functional:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 20, rule = B37/S23
4b2o$3b4o$4b2o$2b6o$3b4o2$2b2o2b2o$2obo2bob2o$3bo2bo3$4b2o$4b2o2$bobo
2bobo$o2bo2bo2bo$o8bo$o8bo$2o6b2o$2b6o!

The c/2 puffer growing from this:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 7, rule = B37/S23
b2o$2o$bo2$bo$2o$b2o!
or even this:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 9, rule = B37/S23
bo$bo$2o2$2bo2$2o$bo$bo!
emerged out of a large soup. I'd be surprised if it hasn't been reported before, but it doesn't appear in this thread. As with a lot of B37/S23 puffers, it develops a repeating body (with a spatial period of 240) in front of a chaotic tail. The tail can be amputated to produce a "clean" puffer, but I haven't found a simple starting pattern that avoids growing it.

That would be incorrect. It appears on this thread's first page (the third post, in fact).

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3
3bo$4bo$o2bo$2o2$2o$o2bo$4bo$3bo!

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S2-i3-y4i
4b3o$6bo$o3b3o$2o$bo!

So it does - thanks.
