Nice! Was expecting it to take more than two! If anybody wants, they can create a thread. I don't want to pollute the forum.

Two rules where a single cell is a gun:
P6:

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 1, rule = B1e4aew8/S01e3iy4at5a6c
o!
P7:

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 1, rule = B1e4acew/S01e3iy4at5a6c
o!
x₁=ηx
V ⃰_η=c²√(Λη)
K=(Λu²)/2
Pₐ=1−1/(∫^∞_t₀(p(t)ˡ⁽ᵗ⁾)dt)

$$x_1=\eta x$$
$$V^*_\eta=c^2\sqrt{\Lambda\eta}$$
$$K=\frac{\Lambda u^2}2$$
$$P_a=1-\frac1{\int^\infty_{t_0}p(t)^{l(t)}dt}$$

Looks a bit like Tosc if you ask me, but I'm not sure how close the two rules are because nobody came up with the Hensel string for either it or the variant.

This is a methuselah:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3-nr5r/S234-a
bo$3o$obo$2o!
It lasts 1,233 gens and produces: 7 blinkers, 5 beehives, 2 blocks, 2 boats, 1 z, 1 ship, 1 long ship, 1 2c/5 ortho glider, and 1 p6 pre-loaf. I just thought this was cool and i'd like to share this rule. (sick rhymez)

@muzik: Not sparky enough on either side for really easy alterations, and all successful interactions that I've seen reset the tail end of the engine, meaning that the succeeding cycles are all out of phase.

If by closeness you measure in terms of transitions then B34-a/S34 is Class I(?) and closer.

A rule with (1,0)c/2, (1,1)c/2 and (2,1)c/2 spaceships, alongside a stationary oscillator, which allows for this effect:

Code: Select all

x = 43, y = 43, rule = B012356/S2347

When we get a (2,1)c/6 or (2,1)c/7 in normal Life, we'll be able to do a slower and larger version of this...
