Here is a small minigame.
On each post, we can place a cell anywhere we want.
You cannot post twice in a row.
Between posts we will advance 1 generation.
The goal? Get as high of a population as possible. If a pattern dies we will restart with the starter.
The starter:
Code: Select all
x = 2, y = 2, rule = B3/S23
2o$2o!
Code: Select all
x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3
3bo$4bo$o2bo$2o2$2o$o2bo$4bo$3bo!
Code: Select all
x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S2-i3-y4i
4b3o$6bo$o3b3o$2o$bo!

Gen 1:
Code: Select all
x = 4, y = 2, rule = B3/S23
2obo$2o!

Taking A for awesome's entry since it got in first by one minute --
Seems like it would be nice to see the before and after stages of the pattern. Here are generations 0 and 1, and a candidate Gen 2:
Code: Select all
x = 37, y = 7, rule = LifeHistory
9.D16.D$10.D16.D6.A$2A.C7.D4.3A.E7.D4.A.2A$2A5.6D3.3A5.6D3.A.2A$11.D
16.D5.A$10.D16.D$9.D16.D!

A rule should be added where dots have to directly affect the pattern. No adding dots fricking 1000 cells away from the pattern.

Why? Also, Gen 3:
Code: Select all
x = 22, y = 6, rule = B3/S23

Gen 3 -> Gen 4
Code: Select all
x = 25, y = 5, rule = B3/S23
b2o18b3o$o2b2o15bo3bo$o2b2o14b2o3bo$3o17b4o$21bo!
As it stands, this evolves into a B heptomino
The
5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by AforAmpere. The latest collection is hosted on
GitHub and contains well over 1,000,000 spaceships.
Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of
LWTDS.

This pattern makes an interesting 3-block constellation

9(I methodrcally searched the cell space, and then the final population, and got this:):
Code: Select all
x = 9, y = 10, rule = B3/S23
6bo$6bo$4b4o$3bo$2b2o$3o2b2obo$o4b4o$o6bo$bo3bo$2bo2bo!

You literally just posted my pattern. Did you even read the initial post?

My bad, I'll fix it. 9:
Code: Select all
x = 9, y = 9, rule = B3/S23

Also, did you notice that I said methoDRCally searched the cell space?
