I would be glad if certain rules can be listed in https://catagolue.appspot.com/home. Reason: I am working on a common proof of universality of the rules B3[678]*/S23[678]* in my topic: http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic. ... 97&start=0, so naturally occuring sparky oscillators would be handy for creating guns.

This is very poor list and denoted as incomplete: List_of_rules_investigated_on_Catagolue. The rules with important particles are missing from there, those particles are: B7, S6 and S7 respectively. So only B3[68]*/S23[8]* rules found, they are already proven to be universal.

Is there a way to gather all census rules with commits somehow, or selected ones with rule mask?

Unfortunately, the only 8 rules in the catalogue that match the above pattern are: b368/s23 b368/s238 b36/s23 b36/s238 b38/s23 b38/s238 b3/s23 b3/s238

Some wgets in for loops pointed out them. :( They do exist in the catalogue with commits, but I am interested in the remaining 56 rules.

  • Works in life
  • Works in a totalistic rule other than B3/S23, B3/S238, B38/S23, B38/S238.
  • Some of the phases might differ, but the period, barrels should be the same.

Not much progress, only a p120 (p30-compatible) gun were constructed in Highlife (works in B36/S238, too).

Note that the rake stream outputs gliders of both parities, and the p22 and p32 reflectors are sufficient to get gliders of any necessary phase. A gun can surely be built in this manner, but the construction would be large, and I would not advise anyone to attempt to complete it.

The ship was found by Paul Tooke and the synthesis method was found by Adam P. Goucher who used it to build a gun in DryLife (B37/S23). A gun was never constructed in B378/S23, as this topic shows.
