Accidentally found the basic AND gate and added the eaters:

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 38, rule = B3/S23
2bo$3bo$b3o7$27bo$25b3o$24bo$24b2o3$b2o$b2o8$24b2o$24bo$25b3o$27bo8$3o
$2bo$bo!
It is a slow reaction, but it works (p94 or higher)

In my Extendedlife rule, I found six reactions that generate rare objects:

The sixth one, the spark coil, doesn't need a synthesis reaction, as it is already obvious how to construct it.

Those are interesting, especially the one with the ship. The only other ship catalyst that I can think of is the double blinker eater. What did you use to find these patterns?

Those are impressive! BTW, the "J" that you are referring to is technically called a "Herschel". (This is actually a misnomer, but the name stuck.)

Perhaps you could help me with my stable HWSS Heisenburp!

I use my own program to search for these samples. This is a program of exhaustive search positions of objects (one or several) with specified conditions.

How does your program filter out the successful reactions between the active area and the still lifes? I am especially curious about how it deals with still lifes that completely disappear and then reappear (such as one of the blocks in your last Herschel to glider converter). Also, how long did it take to find those results?

In this case, the program does not check for a still life at every step, but in the end. But to search for Herschel conduits, it checks for Herschel at each step. Search speed is about 50 objects per second. If there is a search for one object, then it takes a few minutes, and if two, then a few hours or days. Search time depends strongly of the bounding box. The object can be either still life, an oscillator, or any other complex object.

David
I'll upload it on the forum a few weeks, as soon as the interface will translate into English.

How does it do this? Does this check affect the search speed significantly? Can it be modified to check for patterns that can be converted into Herschels (such as B-heptominoes, R-pentominoes, Pi-heptominoes, and wings)?

Perhaps a bit of a change from the previous comments, (sorry), but some things I have discovered or engineered.

1. A modified version of backrake 2 with an additional LWSS which interacts with the glider stream. The resulting pattern is both a puffer and a rake.

Code: Select all

x = 30, y = 55, rule = B3/S23

2. MWSS and GLider collision producing a temporary switch engine. It lasts from generation 311 to 316 before it is destablized.

Wow! Those 'modified versions' can be engineered into a unique R-to-H:

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 27, rule = B3/S23
19b2o$20bo$20bobo$21bobo$bo20bo3b2o$obo23b2o$o2bo$b2o7$8bobo$8bo2bo$8b

2bo$16b2o!
It has a completely different displacement to any existing R-to-H conduits. And it even yields a new receiver:

Code: Select all

x = 55, y = 34, rule = B3/S23
24boo$24boo3$22boo$22boo$9boo$10bo32boo$10bobo26boobbo$11boo26bobobo$

o$13boo32bobo$47bo$46boo!
I doubt that it would help in finding a sub-466-tick reflector, though.
