The voting phase of this competition is now closed, right?

Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
I never noticed the 14th of February time limit! I assumed it was going to be later on, just like the POTY 2016 competition. I don't know if it is too late for them to be counted (and don't mind too much either), but either way, here are my votes:77topaz wrote:The voting phase of this competition is now closed, right?

Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
I assume calcyman will announce the results soon, but if he is for some reason unable to, I do have the results of this competition calculated in a spreadsheet.
Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
I edited out my sample vote at the beginning in order to be able to run the following code (which should hopefully simplify the process of POTY vote-counting in future).
To extract results:
To tally results:
The results:
The first three places go to the 2-engine cordership, Tanner's p46, and the stable pulse-dividers. All twenty-five patterns accumulated at least 6 stars each, so all entries should be congratulated.

What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!
Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
I think your scoring is slightly incorrect, my own count by hand gives the winning patterns 18, 4 and 9 scores of 50, 34 and 32 respectively. But it doesn't matter very much since I agree with the ordering of the winners down to at least 10th place.
Congratulations to A_for_awesome and all the winners!

Maybe that's because someone quoted a voting post and it was picked up by curl.Macbi wrote:I think your scoring is slightly incorrect, my own count by hand gives the winning patterns 18, 4 and 9 scores of 50, 34 and 32 respectively. Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
I think you picked up 77topaz's quote of danny but also missed muzik's votes, which weren't prefaced with #.
Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
Ahh, yes -- I knew that the quote could only be half of the explanation, since some of the results exceeded and some undershot your independent calculation.Macbi wrote:I think you picked up 77topaz's quote of danny but also missed muzik's votes, which weren't prefaced with #.

Re: Pattern of the Year 2017 -- votes
I won't attempt a full recount, but here's an effort make the results a little clearer. There's the detail of tie votes, where the order has not actually been determined by the count. And reporting the ordering only by pattern number seems like a deliberate attempt to make people jump back and forth between pages a lot.calcyman wrote:Maybe that's because someone quoted a voting post and it was picked up by curl.Macbi wrote:I think your scoring is slightly incorrect, my own count by hand gives the winning patterns 18, 4 and 9 scores of 50, 34 and 32 respectively. I hope I haven't added any new errors, but this was all manual copy and paste, and pattern-number vs. number-of-votes can be confusing.
So I wouldn't put it past me to have confused things even worse.
I've taken the liberty of editing the two troublesome posts, removing the #s to make the quoted one non-countable, and adding #s to muzik's votes.

Also, I find it amusing how the pattern that won the competition was found on December 31 of the year.
