Votes for Pattern of the Year 2011

Post by calcyman » January 13th, 2012, 4:41 pm

Here you can vote for the Pattern of the Year 2011. The rules are, as always, the following:
  • You can vote for at most three patterns.
  • You are not allowed to vote for your own entries.
Thanks to 'cloudy197' for assembling the following list of entered patterns:

(01) -- Pulsar Pixel Raster Line Display in Periodic Logic -- triller
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=4902#p4902
(02) -- Oblique antstretcher -- Matthias Merzenich (Sokwe)
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=648
(03) -- c/7 diagonal spaceship -- Matthias Merzenich (Sokwe)
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=714
(04) -- Width-1 quadratic growth -- Stephen Silver (SAS)
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=653
(05) -- Small c/6 diagonal spaceship -- Josh Ball (velcrorex)
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=633
(06) -- Stable HWSS Heisenburp -- Guam, flipper77, Extrementhusiast
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5385#p5385
(07) -- Fully universal turing machine -- Paul Rendell
http://rendell-attic.org/gol/fullutm/index.htm
(08) -- Small Moving sawtooth -- cloudy197
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5857#p5857
(09) -- 10x10 garden of Eden -- Heule, Hartman, Kwekkeboom, and Noels
http://homepage.tudelft.nl/37b0y/
(10) -- Guam's collection of new stable technology -- Guam
http://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=148

For my convenience, the following rules also apply:
  • You may only make one post on this thread; if you change your mind, edit the post. Do not create a new post.
  • Each post should contain only the two-digit identifiers of the three (or fewer) patterns you have selected, separated by commas.
  • All votes are weighted equally.
Voting closes on the 1st February, 2012.

First question ever. Often referred to as The Question. When this question is asked in right place in right time, no one can lie. No one can abstain. But when The Question is asked, silence will fall. Silence must fall. The Question is: Doctor Who?

Unsorted C/3 search output? Somewhat newish C/3 edgesparker? give it to me, and my "battleships" just may have a use for it. :)

discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny ..."

Am I the only one who noticed that we are nearly a month past the end of the voting?

Patterns of the Year 2011

Post by beebop » February 28th, 2012, 7:37 pm

No, you weren't. I took the liberty of counting the votes and came up with the following results:

In 7th place: (08) Small Moving Sawtooth, at 1
In 6th place: (05) Small c/6 diagonal spaceship, at 2
In 5th place: (06) Stable HWSS Heisenburp, at 4
In 4th place: (04) Width-1 quadratic growth and (01) Pulsar Pixel Raster Line Display in Periodic logic, at 5
In 3rd place: (10) Guam's collection of new stable technology and (02) Oblique antstretcher, at 6
In 2nd place: (09) 10x10 Garden of Eden, at 7
In 1st place: (07) Fully universal Turing machine and (03) c/7 diagonal spaceship at 10

Looks like there are two winners!
