The meaning/story of your username

Post by Saka » January 2nd, 2018, 9:39 pm

Each name has a meaning.
A username is a name.
A username must have a meaning.
What is the meaning or story of your username?
For mine it's just my middle name (The name I get called by) nothing special.

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 10, rule = B3/S23
(Check gen 2)

No one knows exactly where my username came from, but the obvious theory about toroids is (probably) incorrect. The leading theory is that I just thought of it randomly. The theory also states that at some point I realized that it could be interpreted as a contraction from Tor O. Idalet (it isn't, as one of my posts somewhere says). What does it actually stand for, then, you may ask. Here's an answer, interview-style:
Reporter: What does your uersname stand for?
Idalet: I don't know man, I didn't do it. [completely unoriginal line from 20+ years ago, completely typical]
R: But it's your account.
I: What are you talking about? This account is public (provided you can find the password)
R: Why are we even going on some needless dialogue? What does your username stand for?
I: See hereᷝᷝᷝᷝᷝᷝᷝᷝᷝᷝ̂
R: How do you even pronounce that?
R: I'm out of here.
(DISCLAIMER: This interview is (at least) mostly fictional (yet))

My username came from my former aspirations to become a game designer.

Macbi was a charater in a fantasy book some friends and I had to write for school. I used it when I set up a RuneScape account and I've been using it as an online handle ever since.

I used to have a username based on my name. I changed my username in a videogame music composers' forum to Rhombic -randomly- and I guess I liked it. I actually use two different Rhombic usernames: Rhombic for the slightly more serious forums and rombik for other sites.

Ampere is obviously a word, but AMP are my initials, which I thought was cool. I realized after the fact that my username was very similar to A for Awesome's.
I and wildmyron manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules.

Things to work on:
- Find a (7,1)c/8 ship in a Non-totalistic rule
- Finish a rule with ships with period >= f_e_0(n) (in progress)

Mine's a pony name, obviously ("pony" as in "MLP:FiM"). Apple Bottom is an unnamed (but fan-named) member of the extended Apple family who appears in the episode Apple Family Reunion. No relation to Apple Bottom jeans!

Wanted to use "Supermario24" (which was to encompass my interest in both Mario and the number 24, for reasons) for my YouTube account when I was like 10, that was taken, YT suggested "SuperSupermario24", I went with it, and now here we are, where I'm still using that same username like everywhere for some reason.

All the names I usually used were taken and I had to make up something new. I like animals and I especially love the not so conventionally cute ones. But this time I just used my and my partner's name
