I am aware, but with the above construction, you wouldn't have to delete the blocks and could use it as a signal. Otherwise, with just the puffer by itself, you can't use it as a signal as it would not be considered clean and reusable unless all blocks behind are cleared. Therefore, a way for the puffer engine to, even if trivially, channel through a stream of blocks is a very useful discovery.Redstoneboi wrote:that "8c/282" is actually a pair of forePuffRakes shooting down each other's blocks.

I've been searching in C1 with a slightly modified apgsearch (as mentioned on Discord). Any soup with a p5 T will unfortunately fail the population periodicity tests in apgmera's naivestab_awesome() as none of the periods tested have 5 as a factor. Changing the initial period to be tested to 10 in place of 12 gives a significant boost to the search speed (about fourfold increase). Because this function never detects stability in the presence of linear growth there is little change to the resulting census. [I also adjusted the other parameters to ensure that the total number of generations that non-stabilising soups are evolved for is approximately the same.]

I've also been running a search in D4_+2 - as evidenced by the p17 above - but this change doesn't do much for that search because it's the linear growth soups which take so long to census.

I believe so. Unfortunately, tlife is still a long way from omniperiodicity. I'm not sure there's even a proof of universal construction yet, so there aren't any upper bounds on nonexistent periods, either. - run 300 iterations with period = 40

This targeted detection of stability in the presence of the p160 which is more common than the cap. To be honest I don't think that makes a big difference because even with those two oscillators combined there are only 3/100 soups to which it's applicable - the resulting performance improvement is comparable to the random variation I get in my tests.
