I kind of agree -- but on the other hand, I'm very much in favor of the creation of something like this, as a dedicated thread for
Entity Valkyrie's patterns. If there's an obvious place to put patterns like this one, it might go a long way toward preventing the same exact pattern from getting re-posted in three places on the forums -- here, and in

The bottom part of the pattern is
an existing OFF / TOGGLE / READ circuit from a year ago. If you can easily add a link to prior art, please do it, here on the forums as well as on the LifeWiki. It keeps people from wasting time saying, "That looks kinda like something I saw before -- hey, waitaminute..."
The addition of an ON option, and turning off the TOGGLE outputs, more than doubled the size of M.I. Wright's original mechanism. Seems like there absolutely ought to be a mechanism out there somewhere that's a lot smaller than that boat toggle, but nobody has quite come up with a really good toggle reaction that's both compact and resettable.
I tried a quick rebuild. It ended up about the same size, but the part toward the top is maybe a little less tangled and could probably be replaced by something better. The trick is that the splitter that produces the OFF followed by TOGGLE signals from the ON input has to have two transparent lanes, so that either OFF or TOGGLE can also be sent separately. Or I suppose the independent OFF and/or TOGGLE could be done with an edge shooter instead.
No doubt there's a better way than what I found, for that problem and also the TOGGLE output suppression which is an awkward pi cleanup that then has to be Snark-reflected away from the ON input splitter -- not so good. And maybe the fix could also separate the READ and OFF inputs so that it's possible to connect to both of them without an edge shooter.

The thing is, the actual TOGGLE mechanism doesn't have an output, so it really shouldn't need a suppression mechanism. If the whole thing were reworked with that in mind, so that one of the reflectors toward the end of the TOGGLE path was a merge circuit, then maybe that whole suppression tangle will turn out not to be necessary. (?)
