Hey, my name is Alex and I am 14. I have been playing with the game of life for about 6 months. I like to take other people's patterns and modify them so they do other things. I also like creating stupidly large complex still lifes.

Hello, my name is Aaron, I'm 36 and I know nothing about this CGoL :( But my son likes it and I want to share his interests (frankly, I wish he shared my interests and played normal games like Madden :lol: ) So I came here to learn the basics of the game

Have been here for a while, but didn't introduce myself.
My name is Franek. I'm 13 years old and I live in Poland. I was interested in mathematics and science since I can remember. Conway's Game of Life has been my hobby for 3 years. Now I'm actually less into science and more into memes and video games (like Minecraft and Geometry Dash, although I played Fortnite earlier) to fit to my schoolmates. I LOVE MEMES
Btw, is my English good?
I was so socially awkward in the past and it will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Hi,

Took the burden to register in yet another site just to upload my wishlist :

I've been in Life since the original Scientific American article. I've coded it in all the languages I've tried, proudly including 6502 assembler, running in the graphics memory of my - still working ! - Apple ][+ :-)
My current interest is a PARALLEL computer. I love static, but hate the - now customary - Herschels.

I don't have much time to code now, I use Golly as a break. I have some quick n'dirty scripts in lua ( got Py_InitModule4_64 error, and didn't downgrade to 2.7 ). I'll tidy them up to post in the proper place.

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 13, rule = LifeSuper
#C [[ NOGUI NOSOURCE HEIGHT 100 WIDTH 100 ]]
3A.3A.5A$A.A3.A$A.A.3A.A.A.A$A7.A3.A$A.5M.A.A.A$A9.A.A$A.5M.3A.A$A.M$

I don't like to introduce myself.
I don't really like blinkers but:

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 25, rule = B3/S23
2bob3obo3bob3ob3o$2bobobob2ob2obo3bo$2bob3obobobob3ob3o$obobobobo3bobo

obobob3ob3o$obobobobo3bobo5bo$b2obobobo3bo2b2ob3o!
A 17 year old guy that have useless discoveries in life and other rules.

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 20, rule = B3/S23

My actions weren't smart back then.

Allow me please to introduce myself
I'm a man of ruined health and taste
Been around here for many a year
In this world of utmost stealth and haste
Caught in a trap layed out for troubadours
For them to slowly rot to death in filth and waste

(With apologies to Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones and all of their fans)

Sure I do. Since the mid 70s. I remember a few of my friends at school and I occupying the company of the father of one of the maths freaks of us who had misused the PD11-style computer they were running to show us the magic of Conways "Game of Life". They didn't even have a computer screen or monitor, just a printer. And we wasted a hell of a lot of paper on this pretty exciting saturday afternoon half a century ago!

But I forgot about "Game of Life" until I accidentially stumbled over Conways surreal numbers recently.

Ah, I was worried for a bit that you were just a troll since your posts weren't all that relevant. I'd suggest perusing the wiki if you want to see what we've been up to the last forty-something years.

Greetings.

I was being all nostalgic and was using an old 286 to browse Big Blue Disks from the 80s and 90s just like I did as a kid. Found a game of Life on one of the disks and was immediately captivated. Didn't take long to make a quick and dirty simulator on my PC, and was having enough fun to explore the subject online. then I found golly and this community and wonder how I haven't discovered this before.

Now I am interested in practical applications of CA and am doing lots of reading. Hopefully I will be able to contribute to the community before long

Hello!

18 years old, currently a high school senior. Have been interested in cellular automata for all of high school though in the last year I've been getting a bit more into it and this definitely isn't because I got Golly onto a school computer.

I mostly like to observe and see what else has been made, sometimes I try to engineer simpler patterns but I don't run search programs or anything like that. I'm doing this for personal enjoyment, mostly.

Over the past few weeks I've been messing around with arrangements of blocks to see what patterns arise from their interactions, for example:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 6, rule = B3/S23
2o$2o2$2b2o$2b2ob2o$5b2o!
I have a decent-size back log of objects made of blocks so far which is, to my knowledge, of extremely little use.
I need a life

Hi!
I'm a 13 year old student (who is possibly bad at intruductions).
Got interested in this with no reasons 7 months ago.
I like some spaceships,
And don't want to see gliders all day long.

(some are known, they appear in other rules)
Edit:I deleted the glider in this rule's collection(found in about five minutes)
I like searching by hands.

What's more,I'm still learning English!(i'm not too terrible at English :) )
