I get the need for consistency, but unless you have some sort of script that's pulling the contents of these posts and tallying I don't see what difference it would make.

The script doesn't really care about leading zeroes; you can put in as many as you want, or none at all, and it will work the same (if I'm reading/remembering it right). It does need the space between the number and the vote, though. There was some crackpot theory about avoiding false positives.

Really it would be easy enough to fix the script to handle simsim314's variation of the vote format. At first glance it seems reasonable to have "read the instructions in the first post" as a prerequisite for voting, but now I feel as if that's just setting a trap for unwary voters, or something. It would be a really weird year if everyone got the format right.

Yeah, that may be the case. But thanks to the forum's quote-gives-notification feature, this will at least serve as a reminder for him to submit a correctly-formatted ballot if he wants to participate.
