4c/20d (c/5d) and c/2o, both of isolated dots:

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 6, rule = B2ci3aeiny4et5y6n/S023-i4t
7bo$3bo$16bo$o2bobo8bo$16bo$3bobo!
In a somewhat related (somehow) rule, there is the glider along with these common p5 and p7s:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 10, rule = B2i3-ckqr4cet5y6n/S234ct
12b3o$11bo3bo$11bo3bo$11bo3bo$12b3o3$obobobo$o5bo$obobobo!
In another distant relative (of the second rule), there is this failed p19 pd that would probably work if some B3rs worked.

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 11, rule = B3-cr4cet5y6n/S234ct8

Try removing B8.

Nor does anyone post in ATPP or eatsplosion (etc.), but I don't see people posting discoveries in those rules on threads like this anymore.

There are a couple of reasons you should just use 'the thread', of which some I will list:

1) Organization - Let's say someone's looking for this c/2 tagalong by using the search bar in 'the thread', only to have it not show up. This is a future problem as some of this might become useful, and you don't want a bunch of circular references between two threads.
2) Clutter - Posting in a thread that is generally designed for rules without threads generally just makes it less likely someone else's rule will take off

Of course, it's generally ideal to post here to get a consensus if you don't know whether everybody will get the big picture, but there's already a thread for a reason.

Going to see what the source of them was.

Searched another soup, compiled a short list of oscillators (well, technically it is infinite but that is due to some extendables):

Looks like it simulates a wolfram rule:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B1e3a/S123-a5-i678
bo$3o$bo!
And somehow a bit related:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 3, rule = B2e3aei4wy5jqy6aek7e/S123-a4a5-i6-a78
5bo$5bo$3o!
a methuselahiferous rule.

It nonetheless almost always stabilizes.

Interestingly, that goes for 735 generations, less than the r-pentomino. I don't doubt that there are tons of methuselahs out there, though! :D

Yes, larger soups appear to last far longer than that and emit several puffers/wickstretchers but seem to always stabilize after a while.

@77topaz I've heard a legend of Apple Bottom having to search a rule for 3 days before getting a 10000 soup haul in.

Slightly off topic, but how much time (and memory) would live free or die take to apgsearch? Assuming each soup gets tagged as pathological...and that it even completes.
