What did I wrong ... I have corrected position of the starting block by 1, I have recomputed the construcion with adjusted fixed bottom to the other parity and I am still 1 off. I should take a break.

Yes, another recipe to put the initial block to the same position . And the second recipe was less efficient ... shorter stack, probably more efficient openning, but bottom change by 4 hd lead to less efficient recipe.

OK I could shift the result S by 1 by changind first glider in the recipe shifting 3 final blinkers 1fd SW would solve the problem. I can have the same boat building part. And just stack destroyal and manual templating will be the annoying part to repeat. (correction in the emission file was not waste of time...).

Moment, I should shift phase by 4 if I move result down rather to left. Yes, in the working example the distance of bit1 glider to the block of first built p8 (of future reflector) is odd,odd and the distance with the same referencing points in the recipe was even,even ... so phaseshift adjustment by 4 would correct the issue.

Phase of igniting glider must be changed by 2, but I should check the direction ... and the result is 5.

Originally I have tought that the search is the main problem and templating will be easily fixed aftrer the search is finished.
Than I have decided not to do it by a standalone program, but to reuse the data gathered during the search ... but I have never debugged it thoroughly. The search tooks 4 hours and than templating fails in among a minute. But waiting 4 hours for the next debugging oportunity is not the way to go ... so I would probably rather parse untemplated output form the previous search and retry templating. Without searching again ... this will simplify debugging and having the codes separated could be helpfull for possible future changes (and redebugging).

I have fixed the templating (half manually), but quick test shows there is still a problem in the bits. May be another wrong emission data ... we have to wait for slow replay to see.

Oh, (3 5) emission is wrongly conditioned it should be (11 5) or even (19 5) ... with longer stack ... "rebuilding its tail".
The fast play had no chance to find this bug ... it just influenced the context of the stack other way than I have expected ... with consequences long after the change ... the sloooow replay comparing stack contents with the expectation was required.

Hmm, I have recomputed the recipe, but I let the emission files in wrong directory so I have let it recompute again and meanwhile I have manually
corrected the sequence to correect the (3 5) caused stack disorder (11 added to one place and 11 removed from another ...).
Now I have a valid sequence of bits producing the reflectors + cordership seeds ... meanwhile I have half manually debugged the ignition ... (27 5) with two 52 jumps requires 331 bits, (49 5) with jumps 58+32 requires 344 bits, (33 5) with jumps 58+32 requires 345 bits and (27 5) with TTTTT jump requires 423 bits. So clearly (27 5) with two 52 jumps requires 331 bits is the choice.

So ... stack destroyal and SSS ... to finish the beast.

And if I do it well, it could replace manual templating required in the final stack destroyal.

Now I can try different bottoms, switching botoms during the search ... and debugging known issues.

The final shape is clear and we could anytime replace these bits by a shorter sequence ...

It would be nice to make stack destroyal not requiring manual help and improve information maintainance to allow easier templating.
(Now I hed to correct the result in one place ... as I do not maintain information "about extra 1 changing template").

I made a big progress to make it less experimental and more usable, but still ... .

I am still not sure all the emissions in the emission files are correct..., but I will at least mark those which were used ...

We were lucky and chosen bottom 159 is about 800 bits cheaper than bottom 165, about 1000 bis cheaper than bottom 163, and about 2200 bis cheaper than bottom 161. (Of course there are options to switch bottom during the building process.... especially near he places composite %8 emission is used.)

Mentioned in the RCT thread, I did a search to find 4-glider syntheses of glider producing switch engines, with the condition that none of them produce any non-forward-facing gliders, and 1347 of them showed up. I'd guess this list is complete in terms of hitting a 3G unstable switch engine synth with a glider. I'm sure this could find a use in some other projects so I'm posting them here instead of that thread.

You wouldn't happen to either also have some sort of list of extra glider lanes or still have your code lying around somewhere so that you could give it to me so that I could make that modification myself, would you? (Specifically, I am looking for a construction where the output lane is either one half-diagonal or 167 half-diagonals to the outside of the p256 stream.)

Seems "almost dynamic programming" stack destroyal becomes ready for use (Of course I expect not fully debugged yet).

Seems it made 177 bits final stack destroyal (in less then 1s) compared to original manually helped method taking significantly more time using 191 bits.
With this easydestroyal we can make easystackchange working for very wide number of cases in very small time ... I hope fixed bottom version 3.0 will be ready soon. (It uses S|S->S in 13 (through HT), but this case did not appear in the 177 bits of the final sack destroyal).

Would the performance be that good that we could think about replacing FixedBottom search with FixedBotomWithGaps search?

I run it on the main portion of the recipe and the running time for the main portion is ... 65m 45s while the original time was 274m 55s.
(I hoped for a bigger speed up...) (It produces u items rather to # items on the stack, I am not sure this P disqualification is a problem, the finish requires debugging ...).

I am confused. The 3.0 version produced about 100 bits smaller recipe for the strating portion (LWSS seed (part of the target boat seed)), generated equal sized portion for glider seed and ignition of the boat seed and for the main recipe it prodiced about 200 bits bigger recipe .

I have to check where it is worse. I know only about using u's more often, rather then #'s (it is safer). Is it the only reason for the extra bits? (376094 rather to 375803).

Seems FixedBottom 3.0 works rather well now. I have corrected bug in lowerbound, corrected 2 bugs in substitutions, and now it gives results "fast" (thee are still cases which are timeouted, but their ratio is negligable) without reporting problems. Currently I got slightly shorter solution than was the orginal. But I have made debugging outputs, and seems I was a bit lucky, the solution is shorter than the orginal. There were several places, where the slutions differ, often the subsolutions have equal length, several times new solution is shorter, but several times the original solution was shorter. Thanks to randmness of lua internal hashing the order of tried emissions differ and there are often ties in obtaning the same "pretemplating" solution, and the difference in templating could be important in future.
I still expect I must use just one solution to prevent the exponential complexity.

I have tried in case of tie to prefer subsutions with smaler destroyal cost, but seem it does not help much (if at all).
Seems I have to make a "solution crossing program", which would take best of all the find soutons ... .

(Still not experimenting with changing bottom.)

OK, here is the 3.0 version of FixedBottom. I am not sure I want to spent more time on improving its efficiency, at least the last version produced the result with very small manual help (no manual error correction, stack destroyals done during the search). I have not started experiments with dynamic stack bottom, I have not experimented with crossings on find solutions.

The forGenetics attachment shows 2 outputs from 3.0 and the output from previous version of search. You can diff them to see different choices made during "early templating" leading to different bit efficiency later. It neednot be that difficult to make a program comparing the efficiences in everal phases and choosing the best solution ... the only complication is to ignore the differences in stack bottoms when comparing the efficiencies between two equal stack tops. (One emission requires SSS under the active stack top so one must be a bit carefull not to consider such SSS irelevant...)

Crossing he tries of 3.0 would probably reduce few bits up to few tens of bits. Crossing with the output from the previous version of search could reduce say two hundreds of bits. I am not sure if it is worth trying... Dynamic bottom have definitely better potential to reduce the number of bits, but I really do not know how to do it without adding too much complexity to the search.

The solution crossing method could be one way to go with dynamic bottom. Splitting the tasks to "stack hills" and finding several solutions of the hills, including the different mod 8hd bottoms ... and solution crossing should consider the mod8 botoms change costs. ... may be next summer holidays.

I prefere finishing the RCT15 pattern now and then check the possibility of applying the delaunay stuff to pslmake.

My favourite part (which I think might be a genuinely new idea; I haven't seen it elsewhere): the Herschel track is activated twice, once by the clock and once by the 'fire glider' instruction -- and those two activations are congruent mod 8 but discongruent mod 256. That latter discongruence means that when it's activated by the clock, any 'output gliders' are eaten by the always-on yellow glider stream, whereas when it's activated by the 'fire glider' instruction, the output gliders pass through the gaps in the yellow glider stream.

Actually when I am thinking more about ECCA synchronization I have realised that using F171 L112 rather to L112 F117 on "heart track" allows me to clean the Callahan G-to-H beehive using snark so p8 synchronization of FAKE FIRE and FIRE is no more required. The building cost of the heart remains almost the same, but for example for DBCA we do not need two bumpers on FIRE codon to enter the track (MAIN resyncing needed .. if possible at all).

For somehow optimized ECCA other constraints were not compatible with p8 syncing of FIRE with FAKE FIRE at all.
