Yes. You can add for example one or more BRx46B pairs, followed by BF20Ha and then HF214B. The other BF20Hs don't quite fit, but there are are lots of other sequences that could replace that composite B-to-H.

I'm kind of thinking 83P186 is best described as two copies of (BLx19R plus RRx74B). "RRx74B" doesn't get any hits on the forums, but it seems like it ought to be in the Elementary Conduits Collection because otherwise there's no reminder in there that the "nontrivial combo" is possible:

I consider it adjustable simply by the fact that it can have different periods based on the number of signals in the track.

In this case, I think "adjustability" does not say much about (subjective) "interestingness" of an oscillator.
For example, in other rules, reflectorless rotating oscillators with high loopability are highly adjustable in this sense.
The
p111 R-pentomino hassler was (as far as I know) first discovered as a p111 oscillator, before it was noticed that it can work at several other periods.
The
CL48C loop is not adjustable in the same sense, while
p280 U-turner hassler is adjustable, but this does not imply that one of them is more interesting than another.

I find the object notable for being what I call "engine-based". It's not a judgement on whether adjustable loops are interesting.

Pretty much, yes. The original version of the pattern was by Dean Hickerson, called the "
back and forth fuse". It was recently
rebuilt in a gunless form by PHPBB12345.

From the backups, the bounding box area of the previous gun was
2542 at 2022-09-25 (so the bounding box was either 41x62 or 31x82). That 2542-cell gun was submitted to Catagolue at some point between
2022-03-25 and

spaghetti monster has a higher population than Sir Sprayer -- 702 cells vs. 608. Sprayer's 80-by-178 bounding box is over ten thousand cells bigger than the FSM's 27-by-137, but the box is just a whole lot emptier so I'm not sure that counts.

xs24_4aab96zw255d96" is a good start for a name. Use
Catagolue's object page to find out if there's a descriptive name already applied.
In this case, you can look up something like
cis-block on racetrack to find out that the 12-cell induction coil is called a "racetrack". Based on
other examples, I think standard nomenclature for xs24_4aab96zw255d96 would be "shift-mirrored racetrack".

Those seem right -- though it doesn't necessarily seem like a good idea to start down the slippery slope of adding to that list of inductees.
The list implies that it contains the "smallest inductees", and
racetrack is not very close to being the smallest inductee that isn't on that list -- see, e.g.,
R-loaf and
House ... so adding "racetrack" to the list is somewhat more misleading than leaving it out.

I guess I would say that any 3x4 1-tick predecessor of a glider will have been seen many times before in search results, and so it should count as known.
In general, if you've discovered something very quickly, it might still be barely possible that it's new, but the odds are very high that it's known -- especially if it's a very small pattern. For example, all possible patterns up to
6x7 have been enumerated exhaustively at various times, looking for various things.

It is a non-glider parent of a glider. It can be typed as this (b = dead, o = alive):

I think one relatively interesting type of pure glider generators is when the reaction stays inside a small bounding box and takes long time to settle into an escaping glider (or several gliders).
For example, is it possible to wait significantly longer than the following, inside the same or smaller bounding box?

It seems to be very rare, though — octo3obj only gives six results. Makes sense, though, given how rare clocks are and that this is similar.

I realized something... many newcomers (mistakenly) think that the LifeWiki contains all known information about CGoL, even things like random still lives, P2s, medium-lived methuselahs etc.
Why is this the case?
