Randomagar hacked version?

Post by Scorbie » February 1st, 2015, 10:36 am

Does anyone have a version of randomagar source that lets the setting (i.e. xmax, ymax, filter options, period options) fed in at runtime?

RandAgar has these capabilities but that one's slower than randomagar. (And I modified the source a little bit)

I try to tweak the settings a lot and it's a little nuisance to recompile and organize every time I do that.

If not, I'm planning on making that minor change. It doesn't hurt performance, does it?

I'm still running apgsearch. Will get back to you later. :oops:

Code: Select all

x = 31, y = 5, rule = B2-a/S12

Sorry buddies but I prefer WinLifeSearch (I LOVE WinLifeSearchK! Let me discover the most notable patterns and even rakes and methusynthesis and flotillas... :P)

Not __too__ on topic, but here's a crude hack of randomagar that tries to eliminate duplicate patterns:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B057ay ... RQODQ/view

It filters out whether a pattern is known by population change counts (instead of hashes), so it is able to filter out the same oscillating pattern with a distinct still life.

HOW TO USE
Same as randomagar, Use field.h to change field size, rule etc. These are in the original readme file. There are changes, though:
1) The file reads "index.txt" to eliminate known patterns. The index***.txt are the known oscs I found by running patterns with symmetry ***. ( So for instance, if you want to run symmetry -7 in Life then use index-07.txt by renaming it to index.txt and then run Randomagar.) You can just merge them to index.txt if you like, but I just like the index file organized seperately.
2) It does not work well with symmetries +01 ~+04 and I don't think it will work well on +05~+09 either. In other symmetries, it first spews out a lot of results but becomes quiet after 1M soups or so.

I'm not too good at explaining things... If anybody is interested or has questions, just ask me questions on detail; on this thread/ send me a PM/ send me an email with this address: scorbiclife@gmail.com.
