Assuming that Shapeloops are "smart" enough, what would happen if a shapeloop starts to ponder the meaning of life?

Re: Random posts
3!*6 = 36
(7-1)!-5 = 715
(7-2^0)! = 720
(4-0!+3+2)!+0 = 40320
(3+6+2^0-8^0+8^0-0!)! = 362880
what other numbers can be made this way? (EDIT: probably all sufficiently large factorials.)
I may set up a script to search for these, if i can figure out how to set something like that up. I was thinking of insane factorial towers like 7!!!!!!!-3!!!!!!!!!+9!!!!!!^5 = 7395 or something like that (not an actual solution)

Re: Random posts
I think that, first of all, you'd have to rigorously define which operations can or cannot be used.
Re: Random posts
i would allow pretty much anything besides concatenation. some other examples:77topaz wrote:I think that, first of all, you'd have to rigorously define which operations can or cannot be used.
(3+4)^3 = 343
1×9^(sqrt(4))×4! = 1944
(5-0!+3)!-5 = 5035
(5-0!+4-0!)! = 5040
100^(0!+0!) = 10000
2^(0!+9+7+1+5-2) = 2097152
100^(0!+0!+0!)+0 = 1000000
100^... is actually an infinite series. you can replace the )+0+0+0... with any number with the amount of digits as the amount of zeroes such that )+n

Hmm... in some variants of the four-fours/three-sixes challenges I've seen, sqrt was counted as 2√ (containing a 2).

Yes, I'm painfully aware that somebody in Emoji Shortcut Design World thought it was a good idea to ruin perfectly good phrases like "7 (mod 8)" by replacing last part with an annoying little face with sunglasses.Saka wrote:Speaking of which, I wonder if dvgrn is aware that 8) is an emoji and if he uses the n) list on purpose so 8) turns into 8)
I have therefore set User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit display options > Display smilies as images to NO. If everyone else does the same, then no one will have any trouble reading my posts. Heh.
-- Eh? What's that? Old man rants? Not at all! Thanks for pointing out that my default list format doesn't really fit in with my general resolve to help maintain the Sacred Balance of Parentheses in the universe (by refusing to use emojis).

You actually tend to hear "شو عم تحكي بالتركي؟" / "What are you speaking, Turkish?" where I'm from, so I guess it starts going back up from thereBullet51 wrote:Turkish: ... (If I could understand, I'd be an Arab.)

Re: Random posts
Fortunately, there does exist a "Disable smilies" option when you create a post, not just when you view one.

Fifty years ago I was a mini skinny kid in Taiwan
I walked 10 miles to school so I left my house at dawn
Now, I drive in Houston, Texas in a Lexus sedan
And when I ride inside, I can be the weatherman
But at home, I'm in the backyard
In the washroom, or the kitchen
Mowing grass and drying clothes, or scaling fish and pulling chicken bones
But I'm loyal as a lifetime money-back guarantee
Even if you haven't shaved your legs since '83

Re: Random posts
For Indonesian it's "Tulisan ceker ayam" ("Chicken foot handwriting") for terrible handwriting but I am not sure of any for oral communication, but I think it's "Bahasa alien" or simply "Alien language".Bullet51 wrote:Iterating on the theme "That's Greek to me"

EDIT:
Wikipedia says that in Javanese it's the Dutch language (Basa londo). And for oral Indonesian it indeed is "Bahasa alien".
