Pinned posts

Post by creeperman7002 » January 14th, 2022, 7:09 pm

Discord has a feature where people with certain permissions can pin important messages to the channel. Maybe the forums could have the same feature, where moderators and up can pin posts to a thread or forum to mark important announcements or discoveries. This may save a lot of time when someone is looking for an important post or discovery, and also serve as a newsfeed for recent discoveries and announcements.
B2n3-jn/S1c23-y is an interesting rule. It has a replicator, a fake glider, an OMOS and SMOS, a wide variety of oscillators, and some signals. Also this rule is omniperiodic.

The forums do in fact have a feature along those lines already -- we just don't use it very much, mostly because there aren't many requests for that kind of thing.

The "Game of Life Links" thread is permanently pinned to the General Discussion board, and the Exploratorium thread is currently pinned to the Patterns board.

I just changed the "Unproven conjectures" thread to be "Sticky", as an example. There are also categories for "Announcement" and for "Global". Nathaniel's "Forum Rules" thread is marked as an announcement.
