Unlikely events happen.
My silence does not imply agreement, nor indifference. If I disagreed with something in the past, then please do not construe my silence as something that could change that.

45a. You worry too much about naming patterns/rules/other things, including things that are yet to be discovered.
45b. You could not care less about naming patterns/rules/other things, including things that definitely deserve a name.
46. You are expecting newcomers to know/understand things that most newcomers cannot reasonably be expected to know/understand.
47. You are expecting long-time members to remember/understand everything that happened in the past.
48. You worry too much about information scattering / management / having a productive environment / S/N ratio / attitudes of other people towards certain issues, at the expense of something else that is at least equally important.
49a. You worry too much about consistency/having standards/following guidelines, at the expense of the ability to come up with new ideas and having environment that helps with that.
49b. You could not care less about consistency and guidelines.
50a. You think true-period guns (or basically anything else, for that matter) are useful.
50b. You think true-period guns (and pretty much everything else related to cellular automata) are useless.
51. You confidently claim "drifters cannot move through empty space" or "Snark loops contain signals" or something, leaving open the question of whether it is reasonable to claim that explicitly on LifeWiki (or anywhere else outside the Sandbox, for that matter), and also completely ignoring differences between the challenge of explaining use of words/phrases and the challenge of defining the underlying concepts behind those words/phrases.
52a. You care too much about being reasonable.
52b. You could not care less about being reasonable.
53. You like to intentionally do something unreasonable/nonconstructive, "just to see how they would respond" or because you "just wanted to see how others would feel to the phenomenon" or something.
54. You post on this thread.

Re: 1000 signs you're not a very good Lifenthusiast
Thread locked.
I don't monitor the Sandbox the way I monitor the rest of the forums -- we're all volunteers around here, and I just don't have that kind of time.
Ordinarily I'd probably just delete a thread that was so likely to degenerate into a "make fun of newbies" thread, as soon as I noticed it. The likelihood of deletion would greatly increase as soon as the thread started to include direct attacks on specific forum members regarding current disagreements -- which is a clear violation of Rule 1, even on the Sandbox.
But at this point I'm kind of thinking that a locked thread might serve as a better "Pin of Shame" to remind people not to get into this kind of thing.
Please, y'all, try a little harder to be kind, honest, and respectful -- even when it doesn't seem like as much "fun". This is an academic forum, and you don't need to have any more of this kind of fun.
