This is a rule 5 transitions away from grounded life (B35/S23), and behaves similarly to it.
However, it's much more chaotic, and includes 4 highly notable patterns:
A failed replicator, an RRO, a "tub bomb", and a surprisingly common P10 oscillator.
Code: Select all
x = 57, y = 11, rule = B34e5-a/S234qtw
4$2bo14bo14bo$3b2o13b2o11bobo16b6o$3b2o13b2o12bo$17b3o!
Usage: There's so many! They are listed in Update #1.
The RRO: very organic rotation, quite a sight.
Usage: Not much, but provides potentially useful sparks.
The "tub bomb": Yes, the tub (without B4, would be an extremely common object) becomes a large familiar four.
Usage: You can make powerful methuselahs with tubs alone! Also a good conduit object.
The P10: Similar to the pentadecathlon in CGoL, surprisingly common.
Usage: Like the pentadecathlon, it can be combined in various ways to create larger and/or higher period oscillators:
Code: Select all
x = 25, y = 11, rule = B34e5-a/S234qtw
$4o2$21b4o5$4o17b4o!
Most growth coming from the failed replicator and the "tub bomb".
It is more unpredictable than CGoL for being more reliant on certain evolutionary sequences.
Strong methuselahs are possible, with the very long barge being the most powerful at time of writing (scroll down a few posts to see 5132M):
Code: Select all
x = 6, y = 6, rule = B34e5-a/S234qtw

8P8 from B35/S23 becomes P6 instead, and is extensible. Also a related P4 works that does not work in B35/S23.
