8-cell methuselah

Post by xander12505 » June 17th, 2011, 11:29 am

I've found an 8-cell methuselah which stabilizes after 12505 generations.

Code: Select all

x = 68, y = 58, rule = B3/S23
$3b2o$2b2o$3bo52$63b3o!
While it's an improvement over 7468m, it has a rather humongous bounding box.
( I apologize if a larger 8-cell methuselah has been found)

PS: does anyone know a good website which provides a simple explanation an tips for producing complex patterns?

Could you please give some examples of the types of pattern you are referring to as 'complex patterns'?
What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!

Actually, it doesn't have to be that complex. Just things like stabilizing patterns, tagalongs , advanced puffers.
Things I can make/ put together and make some interesting patterns of myself.

A colored version that ends up being monochromatic.
