Blinkers bit pole is a period-2 oscillator found by Robert Wainwright in June 1977.[1] It is extremely similar to 2.3.3, with a dot spark replacing the central domino.

Commonness

Information on this oscillator's commonness with respect to other naturally-occurring patterns is currently unknown.

Glider synthesis

On January 16, 2017, Goldtiger997 found a 37-glider synthesis for this oscillator with the help of Martin Grant and Chris Cain.[2] An 11-glider synthesis was found by Chris857 on December 27, 2022.[3] He later improved the cost to 10 gliders.[4][5]
