c/5 diagonal is a diagonal speed that is equivalent to one fifth of the speed of light.
Spaceships
The first c/5 diagonal spaceship to be discovered was 295P5H1V1 and was found by Jason Summers on November 22, 2000.[1] No other spaceships of this speed were discovered until January 8, 2005, when Jason Summers found the much smaller 86P5H1V1.[2] In July 2006 Nicolay Beluchenko discovered three new c/5 diagonal spaceships, including the asymmetric 67P5H1V1.[3] The smallest known c/5 diagonal spaceship, 58P5H1V1, was discovered by Matthias Merzenich on September 5, 2010.[4]
On December 18, 2015, Tim Coe discovered the orthogonally thinnest possible c/5 diagonal ship,[5] whose bounding box over six iterations (from one phase to itself displaced by (1,1)) spans a width of 13, which is also the second smallest, with a minimum population of 63.

After a gap of several years, on March 26-27, 2020, AforAmpere found new c/5 diagonal ships with a different shape from previous discoveries.[6]
The first glider synthesis for a c/5 diagonal spaceship (58P5H1V1) was found by Goldtiger997 and Tanner Jacobi in April 2020.[7][8]
Puffers
|
|
The first c/5 diagonal puffer was built by Matthias Merzenich on September 5, 2010.[4] It consists of four copies of 58P5H1V1 continually hassling a glider, leaving debris behind at a period of 1450.
A period-1540 glide-symmetric three-ship puffer was discovered by Peter Naszvadi in March 2020.[9]
Rakes
The first clean c/5 diagonal rake was constructed by Matthias Merzenich on September 7, 2010.[4] The rake has a period of 1585 and works by circulating two gliders. Alternative rake designs were constructed by Merzenich and Adam P. Goucher. The lowest period so far achieved for a c/5 diagonal rake is 85.[10]
Wickstretchers
The first c/5 diagonal wickstretcher was found by Matthias Merzenich on January 26, 2011.[4] It consists of a tagalong pulled by two copies of 58P5H1V1 that stretches two tubs.
Guns
On May 22, 2020, Entity Valkyrie constructed a period-2760 58P5H1V1 gun.[11]
