Cis-boat down on long bookend is a 13-cell still life.

Construction

This still life can be constructed with 4 gliders.[1] A 5-glider synthesis was found in 2014.[2] A 4-glider synthesis was found in July 2015.[3]

Occurrence

See also: List of common still lifes, List of still lifes with 13 cells

This is the 182nd most common still life on Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue, and 19th most common 13-cell still life.

This still life does not occur in final patterns of collisions catalogued in octohash, octo3obj or octo3g databases.

Isomers

This still life is comprised of the normally stable boat acting to stabilise the normally unstable long bookend, an induction coil. This is one of four possible isomers, named cis due to the boat not extending past the side of the bookend, and down, due to the boat being farther from the dense part of the bookend; the other cis isomer, cis-boat up on long bookend, is closer to the dense part of the bookend, and the other two isomers, trans-boat up on long bookend and trans-boat down on long bookend, extend past the sides of the bookend (hence trans).
