Cis-boat up on long bookend is a 13-cell still life.

Construction

This still life can be constructed with 4 gliders.[1] A 4-glider synthesis was found in August 2014.[2]

Occurrence

See also: List of common still lifes

This is the 171st most common still life on Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue.

This still life occurs in the ash of one collision from the octohash database.[4] There are also two collisions in the octo3obj database with this still life in the final pattern.[5]

Isomers

This still life is comprised of the normally stable boat acting to stabilise the normally unstable long bookend, an induction coil. This is one of four possible isomers, named cis due to the boat not extending past the side of the bookend, and up, due to the boat being closer to the dense part of the bookend; the other cis isomer, cis-boat down on long bookend, is farther from the dense part of the bookend, and the other two isomers, trans-boat up on long bookend and trans-boat down on long bookend, extend past the sides of the bookend (hence trans).
